I read a FO piece on ESPN tonight about the left side of Miami's O-line that put some stats (and the .gif below) to my earlier estimation of Martin as a left tackle.

"Martin improved from awful to below average when he took over the left side during Long's injury absence at the end of last season, but he still ended up leading Miami's offensive line (and finishing ninth in the NFL, by our count) with 22.0 blown blocks in pass protection, 6.7 of which resulted in sacks. Coming out of college, one of Martin's main areas of needed improvement was "anchoring against power moves", and, sure enough, Martin crumpling to the ground in the face of a bull rush by San Francisco's Aldon Smith remains one of the most enduring -- and GIF-able -- failures of the 2012 season."

I'm not saying that Martin won't continue to develop and get better, because he probably will. I just am really concerned that he is not going to be a great blind-side protector for Miami's young franchise QB.

Personally, I hope I'm wrong about the guy...but I don't believe I am at this point.

The gif tepop84 posted of that play in the Anti-Fins section looks even worse! Tannehill did a remarkable job of hanging on to the ball from that blind hit.

I watched all of Martin's snaps last year as they were happening. Have they changed since the end of the season?

You're misinterpreting "attitude" for "naturally sarcastic demeanor."  It's an understandable mistake...

I did not think lineman could hit the face mask and push off?

Left tackle was an "adventure" last year with whoever lined up in the position.  It seemed Martin got stronger as time progressed in his brief time filling in for Long, but clips of Aldon Smith beating someone last year were not that hard to come by, though.  He made a lot of LTs look bad.

Dolphins might have too many o-linemen now...wouldn't be shocked if you see a trade this summer.

If Louis is healthy the Fins are too deep across the oline. Instead of cutting someone they might get a 6th round pick or something

Clabo
Louis
Pouncey
Incognito
Martin
Jerry
Thomas
Garner
Samuda
Yeatman

I could see a guy like Jerry in the final year of his deal getting moved if he doesn't beat out Louis for the starters job. Team might trade for him and give him an extension like with Bess.

Of all these guys, I'd say Jerry or Incognito are at risk of being moved because they don't fit the system and they are holdovers from the previous regime

If Thomas and Garner are able to be back-up swing tackles and guards because both are so flexible at multiple positions on the line I think Jerry is most at risk if he doesn't win the starters job
