I've seen my fair share of Bucs games, and have always admired Ronde. He was never the biggest or fastest corner, but had an insane football IQ. I think he deserves to be in the HOF.  4th all time for non offensive TDs. The only player with +40 INTs and +20 sacks.

I think he'll get in eventually, but not any time soon.  I think it'll be like "oh yeah I remember him, he was good..." when his name comes up.

I think the stats are good enough, but what really impresses me is the 215 consecutive starts. The guy was a hard hitting defender, but never missed a game due to injury his entire career. He also returned 15 turnovers for TDs, which is a pretty sick number.

Zach Thomas has a better argument and I don't think Zach is getting in.

Absolutely a hall of famer. Too much respect from fans, players, & media types not to be. 16 yrs at cornerback in the NFL is saying something.

I like Ronde.  I respect what he has done in this league.  He's been a good pro, but being good or pretty good does not the HOF make.

Borderline.....inflated stats due to playing on all-world defense combined with never missing a game and playing a LONG time.

He was a part of the reason why that defense was so good. He shouldn't be penalized for that, or for not missing games.

Agreed.  They never should have let that Lou Gehrig guy in the baseball hall of fame either.  Look at the teams Gehrig played on, and the fact he played all those consecutive games; he never would have made it if he was on another team.   Roll Eyes

Those are pretty high standards you're setting... The greatest shutdown cover corner in history (Sanders) and the greatest defensive back of all time (Lott). While I appreciate you breaking out the 49ers for this exercise, if DBs have to match up with those two, we may not see another DB go into the Hall any time soon.

Ronde Barber has the streak (215 consecutive starts), the consistency in excellent play (5 Pro Bowls), the championship ring, and a statistical accomplishment (40+ ints, 20+ sacks) that no other DB ever achieved.  He may not be a first ballot HOF'er, but I definitely think he deserves to be in there.

It is the hall of fame, not "the hall of very darn good."  Better exercise: name a DB or two that is in the HoF that accomplished less than R Barber.
