More news on the signing front
Dolphins rookie tight end Dion Sims, the fourth-round pick from Michigan State, has signed with the team, according to a Twitter message from agent Jacob Presser.
The tweet, sent Thursday night, said, “Big congrats to Dion Sims (@D_Sims80) on signing his first NFL contract with the Miami Dolphins. Bright future ahead bro.”
The Dolphins had previously signed three of their nine draftees -- linebacker Jelani Jenkins, the fourth-round pick from Florida, kicker Caleb Sturgis, the fifth-round pick from Florida, and cornerback Don Jones, the sixth-round pick from Arkansas State.
Sims, the 106th selection, will receive a contract similar to Jenkins ($2.57 million value, $472,000 signing bonus), the 104th pick, based on the rookie salary scale.
The Dolphins expect Sims to be a contributor this season. He’ll be competing for playing time with fellow tight ends Dustin Keller, Charles Clay and Michael Egnew.
