James Brown said it's only 1% and the Commish is handling it. By my calcs (27/1696) it rounds to 2%.  Is this a problem or is it where society is headed and we should accept it?  It sure seems to me that as the NFL cracks down on the on-field violence the off-field violence is becoming more and more common. I realize they are not related but the image off the field is seemingly different than I would think the NFL is going for.

Players arrested since the Super Bowl:

 New York Jets    3
 Cleveland Browns    3
 St. Louis Rams    2
 Chicago Bears    2
 Tampa Bay Buccaneers    2
 Detroit Lions    2
 Arizona Cardinals    2

At least the Jets are winning at something!

(Note: all 3 Jets players were charged with possession of marijuana.  Hmm....)

Does anyone know if other than Aaron Hernandez if any of them have gotten fired because of the arrest?

Is there some other profession (other than law enforcement) in which less than 2% of employees are arrested?

In 2010, the U.S. population was 308,745,538.  The total number of U.S. arrests in 2010 was 13,122,110.

In a 6 month span? I'll bet there's lots of them. Southwest Airlines has over 46,000 employees. I doubt there's been over 900 arrests of SWA employees in the last 6 months. I don't know of any although I'm sure they wouldn't exactly advertise it. Still I know at least 100 people that work for SWA well enough that I'm pretty sure that none of them have been arrested. If the average were 2%, I should know at least 1.

In 2010, the U.S. population was 308,745,538.  The total number of U.S. arrests in 2010 was 13,122,110.
I would be curious to know how many of those are repeat offenders.

Now if you want to argue that it's just the demographic of the NFL, young men with lots of disposable income, then I'm on board with that. 2% of that demographic doesn't seem that high.

It's now at 28 since February 3rd (Super Bowl).

Quote
WASHINGTON -- Indianapolis Colts safety Joe Lefeged was arrested early Saturday after officers found a semi-automatic pistol in the car he was riding in, police said.

Lefeged
Lefeged was a front-seat passenger in a Chevy Camaro that fled a traffic stop for speeding in northeast Washington just after midnight. Officers smelled marijuana in the car and found a plastic bottle of vodka and orange juice in the center console and a semi-automatic pistol under the front passenger seat, police documents show. A receipt and purchase paperwork showed Lefeged bought the gun this year for about $900, police said.

Lefeged and another passenger were caught when they tried to run from the car in different directions, police said. The driver ran away and was not immediately caught.

A bit off topic, but I found the headline, "Colt's safety arrested on gun charges" funny.

Isn't Colt a type of gun and a safety a part of of the gun?

That certainly brought a chuckle to my house.
