Defensive end is not a position you bring along slowly (like quarterback).
Cameron Wake.
Ryan Tannehill.

You're missing the entire point.  I'm not insinuating he is a bust or will be one.  It's just my philosophy that your top pick should step in and contribute right away.  Defensive end is not a position you bring along slowly (like quarterback).  This kid needs all the snaps he can get and if the Dolphins aren't giving it to him, then  they shouldn't have traded up to get him.

I get the point you are making and its laughable.

According to you a player can only contribute if they are a starter.  Being the first guy off the bench as a rookie means you suck? That's laughable on so many levels!

Dion Jordan may be hurt. Got pulled after only 7 snaps in Friday nights game. Didn't practice Sunday. And he is putting up some odd tweets being vague about something going on with him.

Wonder if its a serious injury. Guess we will find out this week.

We should wait until at least halftime of week 1 before we declare Jordan a bust.

Thing with first round rookies is before the pre-season is over they are either declared a bust or already deserving of a bust in canton.

What would him being hurt have to do with him being a bust? He's only a bust if he doesn't play well.

Edited to add.  My BR team stream is reporting that the shoulder injury Jordan had surgery for is flaring up again. That's why he isn't practicing

Who is talking about him being hurt?  You stated:
It's just my philosophy that your top pick should step in and contribute right away.  Defensive end is not a position you bring along slowly (like quarterback).  This kid needs all the snaps he can get and if the Dolphins aren't giving it to him, then  they shouldn't have traded up to get him.

You are stating that if he doesn't step in and play every down and make an impact from game 1, he is automatically a bust.  You stated that clearly.

The ridiculous part of it is that you aren't considering the scheme, the depth on the d-line, and the fact that he is injured.  So all of those things would cause you to label him a "bust" before he evens plays 1 down.

Ridiculous. Roll Eyes

While declaring him a bust, if he doesn't start game 1, is nuts.

However, if you trade up to the #3 spot you should be drafting someone who will have a significant immediate  impact on the team.  If not there probably was a better use for the pick (or in this case 2 picks)

^^ No argument, however, it doesn't make him a bust.  It makes him a bust if, 2 years from now, he hasn't stepped on the field.  It makes him a bust if he never overcomes his injury issues and plays 2-3 games in the next 2 years.

However, I believe that in reality Jordan will share field time with Vernon, Odrick, and Wake and play in obvious passing downs.  I think we might even see him standing up at OLB this season at times.

I think he is in a deep position and needs to make himself the starter, because Odrick is often injured and I think Jordan is probably a better end than Vernon right now.  And all of these guys are fighting for playing time across from Cam Wake.

The D-line is probably the Dolphins' deepest position.  I think you will start seeing Ordick moving inside because Starks and/or Soliai will be gone next year.  Jordan makes that easier to do.
