I never seen a team so upset after a fairly dominating win

Not sure what kind of punishment the league will pass down on Starks for flipping people off on the field.....but I don't see Ireland and Philbin rushing to re-sign him after this season when he is doing crap like this on the field.

Armando reporting that Starks is not only pissed with the benching he is also pissed that the Fins spent a ton of money this offseason in free agency. Then gave out extensions to Rashed Jones, Koa Misi and tried to give one to Soliai but never offered him anything. So there is a lot of bad blood coming from Starks and his agent.

I don't agree with the middle finger, but I like to see a guy with fire.  It's like the Ricky Vaughn scene in "Major League:"

"Every time I pictching against you, I'm going to shove it up your ___ing ass!"

It's good to see a guy with fire in his belly.  He has something to prove.

I'm not sure how to react to this. As long as Starks and the team do not become cold towards each other I'm Ok with the FU.  Just like a marriage this could either get much worse or bring them closer. He's going to get paid from someone so it's only us fans who lose if he can't get along with the powers that be.

There really isn't a good way to spin it.   If the coaching staff and a player has this much hatred towards each other it doesn't matter how good the player is eventually it will become a serious problem.  See Moss, Randy the season NE cut him.

Won't rear its head as bad if the Dolphins keep winning, but if the Dolphins start losing, you could see the same type of circus in Miami as there was with the Jets last year.

This is bad.  You can't be flicking off your employer.  Eventually, he'll be shown the door.

If the Fins gave him a 1 game suspension for this I wouldn't be shocked.

And if I'm Philbin I wouldn't start him one game the rest of the year (unless someone gets injured of course and you are forced too)

That might not solve the problem.  Particularly if the Dolphins lose next week with zero sacks.  Then he will be mouthing off that the Dolphins would have won if he had played.

When players are bitching (and you got at least two) about a week one win, the team has problems that run deeper than talent.

Ladies and gentlemen, Jeff Ireland!

If the team is dysfunctional after an easy win...

^^ What does Randy Starks giving the coaches the bird have to do with Jeff Ireland?  A reach, if I do say so...

I can see a possibility that he could get traded before the deadline if they can find a suitor.  But being that he is on a franchise tender, I don't know how easy it will be to find a recipient.  It almost a certainty he won't be around next year, so shopping him to others is the right move, IMO.

Starks is now telling the Miami Herald he WASN'T flipping off the coaches but a couple teammates who were teasing him all day for losing his starting job.

Assuming he is telling the truth,  this is a non-story really. Just a moment of poor judgment by Starks that's all

Some say he's pissed he didn't get a contract after Ireland spending a ton on free agency. Even Misi just got resigned this past week. That's all Jeff.

With that said the offical statement is a little less exciting although I'm not really buying it.

Quote
Two published reports speculated that Starks was giving the finger to the Dolphins' coaching staff because he lost his starting job.

Starks is denying that was the case.

Starks' agent, Tony Paige, said Starks "told me was joking with one of his teammates. It was not intended for the coaches."
