Not necessarily.  He is 62.  Plus his son who also works for the Giants wasn't fired and might replace him.

1) His son isn't going to replace him. Mike Sullivan is going to replace him
2) He probably did the "I retire" to save his son's job and he will now take a job elsewhere within a few weeks and end his "retirement".

I'm surprised by this move considering the Titans originallt said he would be retained

I was thinking the same thing. Seems someone got their wires crossed.

Well, the same thing happened to Marty Schottenheimer in San Diego following the 2006 season

They gave him ultimatums about his coaching staff and whatnot and he opted to just leave. So, they said he would stay as long as he changed everything about his staff and coaching style.

Jay Gruden finally gets his shot as a head coach.  The Redskins are set to announce his hiring

Talk about a dysfunctional organization.  Redskins and Dallas are the worst.

Honestly.  There's nothing you can do about a bad owner.  Throw Al Davis in there, too.

A meddling owner is the worst thing ever.  I used to defend Wayne Huizenga because he wasn't Jerry Jones.  And there's nothing you can do about it until they're dead.

It appears the jobs are all but locked up at this point minus Cleveland.....

Tenn--Dan Quinn will probably get the job. Just waiting for the Seahawks season to end to make it official.

Vikings--Mike Zimmer has the job all but locked up. Only hold up is who will his OC be. It was going to be Hue Jackson till Jackson got promoted in Cincy when Gruden left. So Minny just wants to clarify who Zimmer will have calling the plays on offense. But its his job it seems at this point.

Lions--Wisenhunt has the gig just waiting for SD season to end

Cleveland--Nobody has any clue what they are doing
