The good part:
- Jersey Sales
- You should be able to be called whatever you choose, in my opinion. It's your life.
The bad part:
- Guys like Lebron will fall out of favor. He will put King James on his jersey and it will fuel the haters, calling him cocky.
- Who chooses which names are acceptable? Can you be AK47?
- What about players that don't have nicknames? Do you give nicknames to deep bench guys?
I think that the All-Star game is a good place for this, if you're going to do it at all. And then, if you want to sell team jerseys with these names, fine -- but not in a regular game.
Technically, AK47 does work for the guy who already has that nickname. Andrei Kiralenko.
