Hearing on the local radio shows this morning from the reporters that he is "close" to having the playbook down and might be the new right guard after the BYE week.

A team known for major busts in the third round?

Did NFL Network have a Top 10 episode lately entitled "Third round bust teams" and the Dolphins were number 1?  Do people sit around the water cooler at your "school" talking about teams with the most third round busts?

"...and when you say Miami, you're talkin' third round busts."

I give up...

Look at the track record of second and third round picks by this team in the past 10 years.  Nuff said

This is our last three years of drafts. Not any game changers except Tannehill and I'm will to bet our offensive coordinator and coach had more to do with that. I'd like to think Jordon will be too but I, like many others, have to wonder why he still isn't playing with all of the injuries.

Wait, if the team is "known for major busts in the third round," why are we now looking at the track record of second round picks?  The goalposts, they are a-movin'.

Not sure why you would evaluate the current front office based on Saban or Wanny's third-round picks, but Ireland has picked up two very solid players (Kendall Langford and Olivier Vernon) in the third round, vs. three bad players (Jerry, Egnew, and Patrick Turner).  I presume you will agree that the jury is still out on the players picked up this year.

Since the thread has come to this topic (busts), I have to ask- isn't Watkins considered an absolute bust, which is why he was cut by Philly to start with? I'm not as familiar with him as you guys, but how is this an upgrade at G? -EK

I really enjoyed ESPN's hour long special on the top 25 7th round draft bust of all time.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I am really looking forward to next week's show,  "UDFA's that failed to live up to expectations"

I just don't think any team is "known for" any level of draft busts, with the exception, MAYBE of the Lions and their 1st round WR tear thanks to Matt Millen.

I've never thought to myself "gee, this team is good but they sure did have a bunch of busts in the third round a few years ago."

Its ridiculous.  You should re-evaluate the words "known for" and reconsider using them.

They really need to do something to address the problem before the next game.

The "problem" can be fixed by play calling.  How do you slow down a blitz?  Screen passes.  How many called screen passes does anyone remember seeing the first 5 games?

Anyone remember the AFC Championship game in the early 90's where Thurman Thomas and the Bills killed us by running screens almost every play?  It was 20 years ago, but the strategy remains the same.

You want to take the heat off Tannehill, you have to let Miller sneak out behind them and then toss it to him.  Or you have to let Tannehill scramble with designed runs or options.

No changes to the o-line this week. The same 5 guys will start and Philbin is hitching his wagon to this group of 5.  But Mike Sherman in the media singled out Clabo saying if he doesn't improve he will lose his job. Interesting as Clabo was the only person singled out and called out by name.

ESPN ran a piece saying only Martin and Pouncey are safe as Incognito, Clabo, and Jerry are UFA at seasons end and none will probably be back.

And it was pointed out that Miami is running a zone blocking scheme and 4/5 of the starting o-line is better at man blocking not zone.

I don't know if Pouncy is the one who's better at zone blocking, but he's certainly done a great job so far. Incognito has also been solid. Not surprising that Clabo was singled out since he's been by far the worst this season.

Hopefully, the guys up front will get a better grasp of the zone blocking scheme as the season progresses.

If this line could just pass block, I'd be ecstatic.  I'll worry about who can do what if they can just keep Tanny upright.  Because Jerry and Clabo are so completely awful at everything this season, I have very low hopes on this front.
