How would you feel (Atlanta Braves / Chipper Jones)

You spend your entire career playing for one team. You played healthy. You played injured. You're a former league MVP. You were the face of the franchise for over a decade. Whenever you enter the stadium, there's a standing ovation to greet you. The season after you leave, you are asked to throw out the first pitch at the team's first home playoff game. You take the mound. Wave to the crowd. Then you realize that you're not throwing to the team's starting catcher, team captain, or the manager. Nope. You're throwing to the mascot. Why? Because you dared to pick against your former team on a radio program. How would you feel?

That's part of the reason they lost. They developed an entitlement attitude during the season and quit playing.  Fortunately Chipper handled it pretty well and they showed they have no idea how to win.

One of the funniest things I read said they were surprised Brian McCann didn't meet him at home plate to fight it out!

I really don't think they could have ended this season looking any more like crybabies.

The Dolphins make the playoffs and are hosting a home game.  Zach Thomas is invited to comeback as an honorary captain and flip the coin toss.  Before the game a reporter asks him who he thinks will win.  Rather than pick the Dolphins to win he picks the other team.

Keep in mind this is different than Marino picking against the Dolphins on CBS.  Marino is paid by CBS to be objective.  Chipper was at the game to rally the fans behind the home team. 

Chipper Jones picked against Atlanta because that is a bigger news story than being a homer.  He wanted the controvisty and got what  he wanted.

I agree with you. I felt like they quit trying once they got out to that 15 gm lead. I listened to a lot of Pirates, Cardinals, & Rangers baseball down the stretch. Those teams played with fire. The Braves didn't have that. I applaud Chipper for speaking honestly on his opinion about the series. And for going through with the pitch.

I was going to say the same thing.

If this was one thing it wouldn't have been as big of a deal but the team has showed way more attitude in the last few weeks than baseball skills.  Unfortunately as a Braves fan I think it's a coaching issue. They need a coach to remind them they still have to play the games.
