I hope he is.  I lost all respect for Ireland when he made those comments to Dez Bryant.  His performance overall has been average at best.  He needs to go.

That's how I feel. Besides the Dez Bryant issue, there's something else that bugs me. Getting rid of talent without a plan to replace that talent. It was the receivers & DB's that suffered last year. The O Line this year.

^^^ I hate this statement. It is too black and white. They had a plan but it did not work. As mentioned already, Clabo was brought it as a top ranked tackle. In preseason I bet people were jumping on it as a great move (I'd have to look back) but just because a plan does not work, people say there was no plan.  Huh

Well if McKinnie shows up in somewhat decent condition, puts in some effort (as opposed to just picking up a paycheck), and stays out of the nightclubs...this could be a god thing.  I'm on the play McKinnie at left tackle bandwagon.

I don't know where this "top ranked tackle" comment comes from.  The guy bounced around as a practice squad guy for a couple teams, then had a good year with the Falcons in 2010, and was rewarded with a 5 year contract in 2011.  Then two years later they released him.  Nothing about him says "top ranked" in my book.

It comes from his ranking last season as evidenced here.

Ben Volins' Blog on the signing from the Palmbeach post...

A snippet from the article...
The Dolphins chose Clabo over Eric Winston and Winston Justice, who both worked out with Clabo in front of the Dolphins’ coaches this week.
Despite getting cut by Atlanta, Clabo was productive last year. He allowed five sacks in 16 games, but the website Pro Football Focus rated him as the fifth-best right tackle in the league last year, and 14th-best offensive tackle overall.

5th best right tackle in the league last year.  FIFTH BEST, and we went out and got him.

That WAS the plan to replace Jake Long, who, by the way, gave Miami NO CHANCE to re-sign him (admitted by Jake, after he signed with the Rams).  Jake had NO interest in re-signing with the Dolphins, unless they made it worth his while financially.

Its not ALWAYS Ireland's fault.

And LandShark, you need to get over the Dez Bryant thing.  Really, to still be up his ass about that all these years later is ridiculous.  You are the exact example of why Ireland can never be well-perceived.

If I made those comments to one of my students, I would be fired and I would have a difficult time finding another teaching job.  If a hiring manager said that to me, they would be fired and I'd have grounds for a lawsuit.  Jeff Ireland is a classless, mediocre GM.  Plain and simple

When you volunteer that your dad was a pimp and your mom worked for your dad, the question logically follows.

You have to be professional enough not to ask inappropriate questions like that.

Again, it wasn't Ireland that steered the discussion into the prostitution industry.

You are taking it too seriously.  You're being absurd.  You think he meant it as an insult?  "haha your mom is a hooker!"

Don't be ridiculous.  You're just using it as random fodder to fuel your unfounded hatred.

Martin today told the press he practiced at RT and LT. So I guess the coaches are weighing their options with McKinne and see where he and Martin fit best

McKinne has never played right tackle from what I hear... so it wouldn't make sense to experiment with him there now!  As far as Clabo goes... it's apparent across the League that he's not athletic and doesn't fit what scheme the Dolphins are trying to get him to do.

Can't dwell on it now but Phins missed the bus not pulling the trigger for Albert!

Clabo:

He is a talented player.  You don't just lose it in a year.  Which has to make me wonder...is it scheme?  Is it coaching?  Is he hurt and they aren't coming clean with it?

Something isn't right here with Clabo.  I'm putting this one on the coaching staff.  You don't get a guy who has had success like Clabo and watch him turn into what he has, almost overnight, without something going wrong.  He didn't lose his talent.

There is a fine line between a "veteran" and just being "old"....I think Clabo crossed that line this year.

It ain't coaching, it ain't scheme when guys just beat you like a drum play after play. He is slow. Not much else too do.
