According to Chris Mortenson, they have confirmed with Martin that he did not say anything to Philbin about the harassment even after he left the team and Philbin met with him in the hospital.

That isn't quite what the article says.

Martin did not disclose to Philbin any specific incident of harassment or bullying when the coach made the hospital visit, sources said.

That doesn't mean he never said anything to Philbin, only that he didn't say anything to him at the hospital.

The article doesn't have to say it because Philbin has already said it and now Martin has confirmed it. I certainly don't expect you to believe it Spider, but you are not believing despite the evidence to the contrary which is your right.

It looks pretty straight forward to me.  Even if Martin said it specifically to Spider he would read something else into it. I learned about confirmation biasness in a training class a couple of weeks ago. It seems to fit many people in internet forums

Confirmation bias (also called confirmatory bias or myside bias) is a tendency of people to favor information that confirms their beliefs or hypotheses.[Note 1][1] People display this bias when they gather or remember information selectively, or when they interpret it in a biased way.

Certainly you don't need me to go over the extensive, shall we say, revisions that Dolphins management has issued over the last week.  I don't think their statements have been anything approaching a model of consistency.

I fail to see how Martin's statement that he did not speak to Philbin about any incidents while at the hospital somehow negates Martin's previous statement that he spoke to Philbin about harassment back in the spring, particularly since the two statements are not contradictory.  But if it makes it easier for you to just ignore one of them, so be it.

CF, the fact that you're talking about confirmation bias as you read a statement that says "Martin didn't speak to Philbin about it at the hospital" and somehow turn that into "Martin never spoke to Philbin about it ever" (while dutifully ignoring "Martin spoke to Philbin about it in the spring") is... appropriate.

Please read that article again. It says that he talked to Philbin about his issues. It says nothing about harassment. No where in that article does it even mention harassment.

Multiple Miami Dolphins sources said Sunday that the offensive lineman approached coach Joe Philbin to discuss his issues during organized team activities in the spring. One team source said Martin's desire to even continue playing football had been questioned, but the team believed the situation was quelled after it was addressed at that time. Another source who has spoken to Martin said the second-year pro addressed his issues with the work environment in Miami at the meeting with Philbin, though a team source contended the Dolphins weren't aware of them until last week.

I suppose now you're going to say that "issues with the work environment" could have been anything?  Maybe Martin expressed a concern about the brand of coffee being served at the team facility!  And it's just a coincidence that these "issues with the work environment" (which are the words of the article writer, not a quote) are being mentioned in an article about the harassment of Martin.

Note also that the team source says that the Dolphins were aware of these issues "last week."  I wonder how that squares up with Philbin's official statements on the subject?

Yes, especially when you take into consideration the statements that Philbin has made.

So since that article doesn't specifically say the word "harassment," I suppose it is your position that maybe it has nothing to do with this entire situation?  Maybe Martin just thought the uniforms looked dumb and unprofessional, and that was his "issue with the work environment."

One last time Spider since you really are having a hard time understanding my position. Philbin has said in no uncertain terms that Martin NEVER brought up harassment issues to him. Martin was given the chance to speak to this and apparently confirmed it. You can call it a non-denial denial all you want, but the fact is that unless he straight up denies it, there is no logical reason to believe that Philbin was lieing. There are plenty of reasons to refuse to accept it.

Hopefully, one of the first things they taught you is that "biasness" isn't actually a real word. Wink

If Martin addressed harassment  to Philbin back in the spring. Then why the need to specifically say that he didn't address it while in the hospital? Makes no sense.

Also CF, Your post has been reduced to a spelling contest and nitpicking of grammar. You must be 100% correct. I have noticed that some people will argue about anything and their minions will back them up. Hence, your grammar sucks.

"When you were in the hospital, did you talk to coach Philbin about any specific incident of harassment from Incognito?"
"No."

Martin did not disclose to Philbin any specific incident of harassment or bullying when the coach made the hospital visit, sources said.
