Inside the locker room...

Evidently this team doesn't feel like it has to play 60 minutes to win.  That REALLY bothers me.  You look at the games against Cleveland (first half) Buffalo (first half) Baltimore (middle of game) Cincinnati (second half) New England (second half) and Tampa Bay (first half) It's almost like they take entire quarters off.  That's not good.  That lack of intensity has caused us to lose and affected more players than anything else this season.  Generally that points to a lack of something, whether it's preparation or leadership.

Outside the locker room...

What bothers me even more than this whole Martin/Incognito thing, I have a feeling this team has become the one thing it can take years to get rid of...a party team.  This is what I was worried about when Ross was doing all that glitterati bullshit his first year or so there.  Whoever the coach and GM is next year has to put a stop to that shit.  I know the days of the disciplinarian coach are long gone, but it shouldn't be too much to ask that your guys go home at night.  No more group trips to Vegas, no more meetings at strip clubs.

Everything you just described falls on the coach.

The change in the practice schedule where the off day is Thursday might not be working. Worth a shot and see how it goes, but I think having Thursday off gets the team track for a Sunday game.

Inside the locker room:
I don't think they take quarters off, I just think they're not talented enough to give consistent effort for 60 minutes. Most teams have a good quarter or two a game (look at how close most NFL games are) but it's the good teams that are consistent enough to do it for an entire game.

Outside the locker room: They're grown men. As long as its not illegal, its not a coach's place to tell a player how he has to spend his off time. Its not college. You can strongly suggest. But at the end of the day, they're grown men.

Inside the locker room: Its a team sport. They have to want it as a team. They've shown how not to want it as a team. The 1st half of that NE game. Both sides wanted it. 2nd, neither did. You need leaders to lead. But you need followers willing to follow. Not quitters willing to quit. Its not just quitting when you're losing. Its also the quitting when you're winning.

Don't agree.  If what you do outside the locker room hurts what is going on inside the locker room it is the coaches job to change it.

I have heard many times a good game comes from a good week of practice, a bad week of practice means a losing game.  You can't have a good week of practice if you are practicing hung over.

Likewise, if outside the locker room a player is leaving racist voice mails for another player and that upsets the other player you are not going to have a good locker room.

When Adrian Peterson isn't at the practice facility he is still thinking about how he is going to break thru the other team's D-line.  Does Richie Incognito lie in bed at night thinking about how to stop the other teams blitz or in team meeting is his mind wandering about what strip club to go to?
