Per Armando Salgeuro:
Terrible Sunday for Dolphins (in more ways than one)I'm starting to think Armando is just a hack and likes to bash MIA. Look, I'm as frustrated as any MIA fan out there, but let's face the fact: We are not a very good team and the very thought of the talking heads, ESPN, NBC, CBS, etc, posting that MIA is in the hunt for a playoff spot is not only teasing us fans, but it's ludicrous.
We are not good, not even in the remote sense. Bad OFF line, no running game to say the least, no deep threat (though we paid big $$$ to do so), DEF is much maligned and then tack on the off-field problems and you have one heaping pile of hot shit.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see MIA play tough and win more games this season, but it's not going to happen with all the things mentioned above. To say we're 5-6 with a poor, poor OL is a miracle really. No continuity and lack of big plays is not going to get you many points, pretty much around the 17-23 pt mark and that's what MIA is.
This would be different if we had All-Pros at key positions and we were flailing miserably, but that's not the case. We have a few, Wake, Hartline (though he's disappeared at times this year), Grimes, Patterson, etc who have shown greatness at times, but for the most part we are an average team and you get an average product.
This will have to start with better talent and knowing how to get that talent (READ: NEW GM) and better coaching. Does that mean fire head coach and others to make it happen? I don't know. Philbin has had 2 years, but he is still lacking really good talent at key positions and some bad OFF play calling.
I guess what really frustrates me the most is, what I perceive a media negative bias against MIA. This is my opinion. I feel some take pleasures (even before the Incognito/Martin story) in knocking this team. For whatever reason there is, I just feel like they do. Look, the headlines read "Cam dump MIA for 7th win". It's not like he played a 8-2/7-3 team on the road in a big, hi-stakes game. He played an avg team that lead for most of the game and gave up the game winning drive with under a minute.
Whatever, I just hope that MIA can compete for the rest of the year, play hard-nose football, beat some teams I really hate (READ: NYJ, NE and PIT) and finish strong. Get rid of Jeff Ireland and make some tweaks at OFF play calling (maybe get rid of Sherman) and see what happens.
Always a Phins a fan, no matter what.
Go Phins!!!!!
