This time around, I would love to see Maddux, Glavine, & The Big Hurt get in. But I see only Maddux & Thomas getting in this year. Glavine will eventually get in.

I think Tim Raines and Piazza deserve to get in...

It's a crime that Raines hasn't been in yet, he has had the misfortune of playing in the same era as Rickey Henderson.

As far as Piazza goes, show me a failed drug test or steroid investigation. If none exist, let him in. He was one of the greatest hitters of all-time. If he played 1B his whole career, he could've hit 600 HR easy.

I vote no on Mussina, but he is worth a brief discussion.

This would be very cool. Tim Raines is a local guy. So much that my dad and his dad, and uncles etc worked together for 30+ years and he and our brothersp grew up together. Tim even continued to play softball with us in the offseasons while playing in MLB. Always came home with some crazy stories.

I was always a fan of Piazza although I thought he had the potential to be the first guy to come out.

I'd like to see Mattingly get in.  Nine time gold glove winner and good hitter, played 13 years on some poor Yankee teams.  They only made the playoffs once during his tenure, and never made the World Series.

Chalk me up on the Raines, Piazza combo. Back in the day I was a Gary Carter fan so I liked the Expos and Raines. When Carter went to the Mets I followed him as a fan and stayed as a fan which tied me to Piazza.

I would think Piazza would be a lock. Greatest hitting catcher of all-time, imo. Most HR ever by a catcher, 12 all star appearances, 10 silver slugger awards. He may have spent most of his career playing for two teams that I can't stand (Dodgers-Mets), but his numbers are simply ridiculous.

I hope Maddux gets in as well. Best control pitcher I've ever seen on the mound. I just wish he had come to play for my beloved Padres earlier in his career.

Maddux.  That's it.

I know I'll get smoked for saying this, but this is the HOF, not the Hall of Really Good Players.  Glavine benefited from an awful lot of things over his career and hung on an awful long time to sneak over the 300 win line.  Feels fake to to me.  He was a really good pitcher, not a HOF.  I'd put in Schill before Glavin, and I'm not putting in Schill (although you do have to look at what the man did in the post season along with his 215 wins).

I have an issue with Piazza.  Again, Hall of Fame.  Yes, he clubbed the hell out of the ball.  He would have made a great DH.  But he wasn't a DH, was he?  He was a catcher, and a bad one at that.  I'm not sure how I could completely overlook how badly the man did the majority of his job.  He swung a really good bat.  If he was a decent catcher, no problem.  He wasn't.

Passed balls he was in the top 5 seasons.  Stolen bases allowed he was FIRST or SECOND in 12 seasons.  He ranks SEVENTH all time in this.  He allowed 76.8 percent stolen bases in his career. That's awful.  Handling a pitching staff ~ and this is in the National League ~ his pitchers were close to a 3.90 ERA.

I wouldn't put him in, not based on offense alone.

Just wanted to give a little bump to this thread since the selections are getting announced today. The voters do not seem to be very happy with the current process of only being able to vote for 10 players each. They would like to see unlimited votes.

I'm curious to see how the Bonds/Clemens voting goes this year. I suspect neither is going to make it on this round either but I'm curious if their votes bump much this time.

Glavine, Maddux, and The Big Hurt are in. Biggio was only 2% shy of getting in as well.  Still none of the roidheads made it.

Congrats to Maddux, Glavine, & The Big Hurt. Somebody said they'd like to see those 3 get in.

I think they should let all the roid-heads get in.  And Pete Rose.

Barroid Bonds and Roidger Clemens got less of a vote percentage this year than they did last year.
