When the year started, no one expected them to win 3 games. This was all about letting a franchise QB grow and firing Rex Ryan when it's over.

Well, thanks to not one but TWO stupid penalties, the Jets have already won 5 games. Better yet, Geno Smith is a disaster and Matt Simms is no better. So, they won't get a great draft pick AND they won't have a franchise QB. This has been a wasted year for them.

The NY media tries to spin it as a success because no one expected them to win this many, but what did it accomplish? They are still hopeless like before the season started. Not one thing moved in a positive direction. Even Dee Milliner has been terrible. It's glorious.

And if they can win one or two more games, Rex might just be kept around another year

Rex is done in NY. And if you think he will sign a 1 year extension your nuts.  He's gonna want a long-term deal and a payday.  He isn't going to work on a year-to-year basis at this point

P.S......The Jets aren't winning another game this year. They are losing out

There's absolutely no chance that Rex could get a head coaching gig anywhere next year, so why wouldn't he take a 1-year deal? It's either that or hope he can get a defensive coordinator job somewhere. I think the perception of him today is that he's a good coordinator, but comes with enough baggage that most teams would think twice about hiring him.

Rex will probably get offered a head coaching job elsewhere next year. Not for sure but probably.

Idzik isn't going to offer him any deal, so its not like it will be too much of an option for Rex to stay in NY on a 1 year deal. Idzik will bring in his own guy. Rex's decision to play Sanchez in the 4th quarter of a preseason game where Sanchez ended up getting hurt killed their season (cause Geno Smith sucks more than Sanchez sucks) before it started....he wrote his own ticket out of NY right there back in August.

Rex Ryan as a head coach, is something no one should worry about. Either with the jets or some other lousy team. Its Rex as a defensive coordinator somewhere you should worry about. Because he would have is choices of where to go.
