Nope. Sounds like an excuse to me. If he wasn't healthy he shouldn't have played Week 1 and should have come back when he was ready whether it was October, November.,..whatever. It's the same offense as last year and almost all of the same players around him. He has just played very poorly this year and there is no reason to make excuses for him

From the way he is playing and the fact that hes been in a knee brace all year, that suggests he is far from healthy.  Shades of the 2006 Daunte Culpepper?

Then he should have never taken a snap this year. The moment he walked onto the field and said he was OK (which was Week 1 mind you) the "injury excuse" goes away!

The injury excuse shouldn't go away. They probably just lied about it because the person they paid the farm for shouldn't be sitting on the side line. Look at how much people are complaining that Dion Jordan isn't playing more. Imagine if we gave up what Washington gave up for him and didn't start him in his 2nd year.

It only goes away for MikeO because if RG3 looks bad, he can tout how RT is better. Connect the dogs here people. RG3 wasn't healthy enough to take a single snap in the preseason, but he somehow magically became healthy when the regular season started? Please. Of COURSE he's not healthy. That's not even a debatable point. When you run a 4.41 40 and you're getting chased down by 300 pound linemen, you're not healthy. -EK

Why is this a story that's eating up the top story in the national media?

More NE bullshit media bias.  RGIII is a crappy player on an irrelevant team.

You think we'd even get a blip on the radar if we sat Tannehill because our season was over?

Yes, it would be news if the Dolphins sat Tanny.  It would be less news b/c the Dolphins didn't trade 3 first round picks to get him.  But it would be news.

Dolphin's have had there 15 minutes of fame for the season with Bullygate, then the Steelers with the new 12 man defense, now it is Washington's turn to be a crappy team in the news.

No need to bring Tannehill in this discussion. Has nothing to do with this topic!

And the 15 min of fame "this season" all started with Aaron Hernandez  Wink

Back to the point, it was news when the Browns benched Weeden (ie never gave him his job back after injury). But this is totally different. RGIII has been awful this year and couldn't hit the side of a barn with a pass at times. That has little to do with his "knee" injury. He has been bad in 2013. For his sake I hope he turns it around next year.

I think Miami actually got someone else's 15 minutes as well.

Unless you make every pass off of your back foot, you have to plant. It's irrational to believe a knee injury that hasn't fully healed would not have an effect on passing. Not only does the ACL restrict anterior translation, it limits rotation- the kind generated by the hips in a throwing motion, allowing the knee to absorb force without buckling. -EK

^ The stress of planting isn't anywhere near that of making hard cuts, however, so the effect on the mobility would be far greater.

Absolutely, but to say that it has NO effect shows no understanding of kinesiology whatsoever. Injuries, contractures, or other pathologies of the knees affect far more than gait patterns. There's a direct link between torso rotation and lower body movement in the horizontal plane that is compromised with lower extremity injuries. -EK

EK does make a good point here, and seeing that he is a bodybuilder, I'm sure he's seen what this type of injury can do.

RGIII's entire game is based on mobility.  He's sucking because that knee isn't healthy and he isn't as mobile this year as he is last year.

Thanks. It's less that I'm a former bodybuilder and more that I'm in school for Physical Therapy, so yes I see plenty of this. -EK

sounds like a weak excuse. He has had a couple good games this year, so the knee didn't bother him those games? He can "plant and throw" certain weeks?! He started off the year with THREE 300 yard games to open the season. He went 24/32 on Dec 1st with no turnovers. I guess his "knee injury" comes and goes  Roll Eyes

Please, give me a break. He has had a couple good games this year and a bunch of awful ones. Using the knee injury is a weak excuse for his poor play this season. He has just been bad!
