THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

« on: December 15, 2013, 01:24:25 pm »

I changed it because the refs did not hurt the Dolphins this week.

Hard to pick a shame of the game this week.  Maybe Fields and Denney for missing the snap on the muffed field goal attempt

The fact that you were posting at 12:24 in "The Shame of the Game" for ANY reason is the reason why YOU deserve the award today.

Bryant McKinnie.  He looked awful in the first half.

Yeah, its got to be someone on the offensive line for allowing that deluge of hits and sacks at the worst possible times.

The refs had some really bad moments on the final few drives, all against the Dolphins. I was having a bit of trouble actually looking at the TV for that last Patriots' series, so I guess the refs could have gifted the Dolphins all sorts of stuff, but otherwise it was pretty horrible.

On a critical long Brady throw late, the player lined up at left end got around his opponent and had a clear path to Brady, except for a HUGE hold. Arm completely extended and everything. Since no one else was even close to Brady, the ref had only one thing to look at. That was just terrible. Can't miss a hold like that. Huge, huge hold.

On the long bomb to Wallace where Tannehill got hit as he threw (which may or may not explain why the ball was slightly under thrown), the defender on Wallace did NOT turn around and before the ball came into shot, he hit Wallace's hand knocking it down and proceeded to hit his facemask. Hard to see if you're not positioned correctly, but that's a no question DPI at a critical stage of the game.

There were more uncalled holds as well, including one on the Wake off sides play, that clearly should have been called.

I really wish the NFL released the grades for the refs. Every bad call each individual official makes results in a "downgrade" (except, for some unfathomable reason, officiating mistakes that are overturned on replay) and calls that were probably incorrect but deemed "too close" are also noted. What I wouldn't give for access to that list after every game.

Normally I'd be all over dolphins4life for doing this, but he was just voicing his disapproval of the officiating.

I thought the refs did well in today's game.
