Anyone have any idea? I've read Urlacher with 25. Does that seem right? -EK

Tackles aren't an official NFL stat, and teams often change tackle numbers for their players. Urlacher is the player most often credited for that "unofficial" record with 25.

I wouldn't say beast...more like slightly above marginal player that had a good game.

Maybe he'll make his first Pro Bowl this year.

Slightly above marginal? The guy was defensive rookie of the year last year and led the league in tackles- as a rookie. He'll be a finalist for Defensive player of the year this year, with many of the talking heads saying he'll win and Vegas odds projecting him as the winner at this moment. There's about 30 other teams in the league that would kill to have "slightly above marginal" players like Luke. -EK

Agree. Good solid player. But not elite

This explains a lot about how Phins fans evaluate talent. The guy's 3rd in the league in tackles, tied top ten in INTs as an ILB, and is the best player on the second best defense in football. He's probably going to win DPOTY, but he's not elite. What ILB is elite then? Who's been better this year? -EK

He was originally credited with 24, and then the Panthers coaching staff added two more afterward. Still a pretty incredible game, especially when you add his interception to the list.

Maybe he'll make his first Pro Bowl this year.

Hard to tell when you're being sarcastic... He was defensive rookie of the year last year, and led the league in tackles, so you could argue that in his one season prior to this one, he should have made the Pro Bowl. He's near the top of the league in tackles again (with 4 interceptions to go with them), so yeah...I think he should definitely make it.

I wouldn't say beast...more like slightly above marginal player that had a good game.

Not too often that we disagree, but put an exclamation point on our disagreement on this one. I'd say he's one of the top-5 inside linebackers in the league today, and extremely beastly. I'm a 49ers fan, so I am pretty spoiled by our two ultra-beastly inside 'backers, Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman. Kuechly is almost at that level already, imo.

This explains a lot about how Phins fans evaluate talent. The guy's 3rd in the league in tackles,
Kuechly has 88 solo tackles and 58 "assists" (assists are determined solely by his own team).
Meanwhile, Karlos Dansby has 109 solo tackles and 8 assists.

Quote
tied top ten in INTs as an ILB,
Tied with one Karlos Dansby, among many, many others.

and is the best player on the second best defense in football.
So Kuechly should be considered elite because his teammates are playing better than they did last year?

If your point is that Kuechly is at least as elite as Karlos Dansby, I agree.

Tackles are an inflated stat. Barrett Ruud used to be a league leader in tackles, a and where is he?  Do you even know who he is?  Luke is only benefiting from being a high draft pick. He's a nice player but that's it.

Oh please. I was just giving you a taste of your own medicine troll boy.  Do you honestly believe anyone thinks he's not elite?  By the way, I think the other posters want you in half a dozen other threads that you vanished from.
