The Seahawks and the 49ers have two of the top defenses in the league, no doubt.
That being said, the offensive display in the NFC Championship game (particularly in the 4th quarter) was a sad joke. Seattle, in particular, was completely clueless: burning timeouts because they couldn't decide if they wanted to kick a FG, MULTIPLE fumbles on ball exchanges, and three false start penalties at home. (The Broncos and Patriots combined for zero false start penalties yesterday.) The 49ers put the the ball on the ground many times (and were fortunate to recover them earlier in the game), and Kaepernick's throw directly to an opposing DB was a bad throw, not "good defense."
That's not to say that SEA's defense can't shut down DEN; it is certainly possible. But the idea that DEN and NE's offenses were the product of bad defenses (or that SEA and SF's offenses were the product of good defenses) is far from the truth.
