That review had me rolling here...
I remember my friend's dad sneaking me and his son into the Marina Theater back when we were 10-11 years old so we could watch the final installment in the original series, Battle for the Planet of the Apes. This franchise, perhaps as much as Star Trek, is responsible for turning me into the sci-fi junkie that I am today. I watched each of the original five movies at least a half dozen times each before I got to High School. I even had a dog named "Caesar," and it definitely wasn't a tribute to the old Roman Empire.
This movie was incredible.
I think it's probably the best movie of the year. My only concern is that it's not "fun". It's dark, tragic, and serious. I don't know if general audiences are going to want to watch and re-watch a movie without comic relief.
But it was awesome.
I plan on going to see it this weekend...and I have no problem with "dark, tragic and serious" at all.
