So, it's the A's versus the, uh...A's tonight in a one game playoff.

This is why the A's (Oakland version) traded off their best bat for Lester.  Kansas City counters with James "I haven't earned the title of Big Game, but I'll take it" Shields.

I'm digging these one game "play-in" formats, although I didn't think I would.

Who you got tonight?

Me?  If Oakland can get a couple runs for Lester, I'm going Oakland.

I'm an Alex Gordon fan...so I hope the Royals win. That said, I tend to stop watching baseball once the regular (read: Fantasy) season ends.

I'm gonna root for the Royals, it's been a long time for them.  Although, I hate the thought of their cheap a$$ owner profiting from it.

What a thriller

And I literally posted that several minutes before the game winning hit.

What a great game.

What's the deal?

This game was a microcosm of Oakland's season.  They built a comfortable lead, then they blew it.  Then they pulled themselves back from the brink of disaster, then they blew it again.

Amazing game.  I couldn't get to sleep for about an hour after.  I'm really happy for Kansas City!

Very true.

Lester was doing fine, but the manager left him in for way too long and they got burned.

I was rooting for Oakland because I pity Billy Beane at this point and KC's owner can buy the Yankees 10 times over but cries poverty, but I am not really upset. It's good to see some fresh faces show up when the big teams collectively decide to not compete for a season or two with their terrible roster moves.

parts of me is happy for Kansas City, the other part now realizes my beloved Toronto Blue jays now have the longest post season drought. Congrats to KC anyways, hopefully another playoff drought ends next season.

You're right, Maine. "Big Game" James strikes again.
