If Philbin decided to "teach Wallace a lesson" then that episode is completely on the coach.  You sit your best receiver and your offense immediately shuts down?  Learn how to manage your players instead.

I guarantee you that if Philbin hadn't already received his guarantee a week earlier, there is NO WAY Wallace comes out of that game.  Instead of proving how tough he is, Philbin would have tried to actually coach his players and would have made a real effort to get Wallace on board.

Instead, because this game is meaningless to Philbin, he chose to either let Wallace pout or teach him a lesson... at the cost of a loss.  Now there is more unnecessary discord in the locker room.  Philbin is not a smart coach.
Spoken like  man who already made up his mind who to blame. Players have made it know they aren't happy with Wallace. It's much worse for a player to be called out than a coach blamed.

If Miami wins the game, then fine, blame Wallace.  Since Miami lost, that's on the coach.  I don't see any other way to spin that.  Philbin chose proving a point over getting (what was for him) a "meaningless" win.

Do you even disagree that Wallace would have been in the game if Philbin's job was on the line?

My kids get disciplined under different circumstances but I honesty do not know that question.

Knowing this has been an inside issue for a while I really have no idea. It could be the thing that actually saved his job if Ross was looking for him to take control of his players. Most of us never really know what goes into the things that happen behind the scene.

Guess you haven't seen Wallace' comments this morning. Looks like Philbin did what needed to be done and from what I heard the entire locker room was upset with Wallace and not Philbin. But you can spin it anyway you want.

Falling for two fake punts in one season says volumes about your team

It shows you can't learn from your mistakes.  It's like falling for the same practical joke twice.  And it shows that the coach isn't teaching his team well.

That's a bit much. You are being a bit of a drama queen on this one. Giving up 2 fake punts over the course of a season isn't a big deal

I wonder how many of the playoff teams fell for fake punts

You know, those two fake punts may have cost Miami a playoff berth

Actually I think that says a lot about your special teams coach.

proves my point, Tenshot.

It shows teams feel confident they can pull such ridiculous stuff against Miami

Considering Miami was ELIMINATED prior to last Sunday's game....uh no. It didn't cost them a playoff birth  Roll Eyes

Considering that it may have cost them two games this year, which would be a 10-6 record, yes it may have cost them a playoff berth.
