Eagles have given OG Evan Mathis permission to seek a trade, Miami is one of the teams in contact with the agent (Drew Rosenhaus) for Mathis.

Armando is reporting the Fins and Eagles are working on a trade of some sort involving mid-round picks

They can't afford the salary cap hit of trading him from the way I understand it

What kind of hit?  He's on a rookie contract

He had an initial $20.5 Mil signing bonus, which for cap purposes is spread out over his 4 year contract.  So, if they cut or trade him the cap hit this year would be $6.7 million.  His salary this year is only $2.275 mil, but his cap hit this year is $5.6 million.  He'll definitely be gone next year unless he suddenly has a breakout season, because his base salary goes up to about $3.2 mil, with a cap hit of $6.5 mil; while there will only be about $3.3 mil of dead cap money remaining from his original signing bonus.

If the Dolphins trade Jordan, it eats up, not opens up, cap room.

The agent for Mathis has stated the Dolphins are NOT one of the teams in talks with Philly for a trade for him.

Fins did sign JD Walton. Who is a center but will probably be a starting guard for the Fins next year (unless he totally sucks and gets beat out by both Turner and Thomas.)  Provides as back-up for Pouncey as well.  He was rated one of the worst centers in the entire NFL last year with the Giants. Maybe he will be better at guard,...who knows.

Walton has a lot of starting experience but has been mostly terrible.

Can't wait for that training camp battle between Walton and Dallas Thomas. Should be some battle of champions!

Yeah, getting one of the worst centers in the league isn't really what I would call "depth". He better not be competing for a Guard spot.

Unfortunately he will be. And he will probably be starting unless Thomas and Turner become good overnight

Thomas is terrible but Billy Turner may have a shot to be serviceable. Can't have 5 Pro Bowlers on the line, but we have them at LT and Center and James was very good at RT, so just one serviceable Guard should make our line very good.

Unfortunately, that seems like a long shot unless we reach in the first round.

I have to disagree. There are a few outstanding OG prospects in this class that can be had between rounds 2-4. I've talked about the OG from Duke, Laken Tomlinson, up here, and Arie Kouandjio is another who can be had in round 3 that I think could start immediately in the NFL.
