Well the odds that Parker and Clay happens are slim as well.

I know. I think Tannenbaum has eyes on moving WAY up to get Cooper!

So the good thing is that they have this cap room.

I think investing some of it in a kickoff specialist might be worthwhile.  To guarantee that each time you score your opponent has to start at their own 20, like the Patriots do, would be great for the defense.

First off, how has this team dramatically improved?  They got rid of one asshole, only to bring in another at a much higher price.

They keep signing big time players and they never work, yet they keep doing it

Here's what the offseason has looked like:

1) Extend a coach who is the biggest idiot I've ever seen coach this team
2) Chew up a ton of cap space on a head case
3) Get rid of their best receiver

I will be happy when this team makes the playoffs.  I don't know if you threaddig, but if you look back in 2008, I was the happiest person on this board when they won the division.

And you'll notice how happy I get when the team does win.

^^^ That would certainly be one way of looking at things. It's the pessimistic way, but I suppose it's still a way. A different way of looking at it would be:

>>"2) Chew up a ton of cap space on a head case"
* They signed the 2nd best defensive player in the league and the single best free agent on the market this offseason.

>>"3) Get rid of their best receiver
* Miami's best receiver is Jarvis Landry. Doesn't drop passes, doesn't quit on plays and is still getting better.

>>"I will be happy when this team makes the playoffs."
* It's impossible to make the playoffs during the offseason, as there aren't any playoffs during the offseason. Does this mean that you're committing yourself to being miserable for the next 9-1/2 months until the next playoffs start?

I live in New England so I hear first hand how the enemy operates and it would be nice if the Dolphins could pick their brains.

The Patriots would never spend that kind of money on any player, even the best free agent on the market.  In the salary cap world, that destroys your roster.

The Patriots take their special teams very seriously, something I wish the Dolphins would do.

It was two years for sixteen million each year.  The Dolphins guareented Suh a lot more than that

But you said the Pats NEVER give away big money to free agents. They did. Don't compare it to Suh. You can't back up your stance

Let me put this plainly for ya, lifer, so that maybe you'll stop complaining about the team spending money:

It is distinctly possible that the player Miami signed, Ndamukong Suh, could be the most talented defensive player that has ever worn a Miami Dolphins uniform. Go ahead, let that sink in for a second. Don't get me wrong, I loved Jason Taylor...he's my all-time favorite Phin, but Suh might be even better than that. He is a physical freak that dominates offensive lines, despite the fact that he is double-teamed on virtually every snap. He single-handedly made Detroit the league's best run defense last season.

Nothing like pressing the "start all over from scratch" button on the Ryan Tannehill receiver chemistry jukebox.

Jeez this poor guy...

I liked Wallace/Hartline better than Stills/scrubtobenamedlater as the WR corps. I get salary dumping but I feel like the Dolphins got raked over the coals on this one.

If Landry is their best receiver, wouldn't it be Stills/Landry?

I think we can both be happy with the moves made today AND overly pessimistic based on past year's experiences with getting burned over positive offseasons. That's essentially where I am at. I think today's moves were fantastic and think Suh solves a lot of problems, but I will always see an 8-8 team until they get real coaches and stop mentally breaking down late in the year.

Way to hinder Tannehill's development.  This is how you ruin a franchise QB.  WTF were they thinking??

You aren't even going to wait to see how they will replace him before they make that proclamation Shark?

The fact that Dolphins4Life doesn't like the trade is all the proof I need that this is a great trade for the Fins.  I would have traded Wallace's no-effort ass for a half eaten churro and a case of the clap. Goodbye jackass, helllo capspace.

btw my name is dolphins4life, not Dolphins4Life  Cheesy

Miami got rid of a WR who had a seriously questionable work ethic and constant issues with dropped passes (Wallace). They replaced him with a younger, even faster WR who can catch the ball significantly better (Stills). They also added one of the better pass-catching TE's in the league (Cameron), who made a reputation as a top shelf pass-catcher despite playing in Cleveland, where the resident QBs are better at making falafels than they are at throwing footballs.

What part of this hinders Tannehill's development?

If I'm Tannehill, I am dancing in the streets of South Beach tonight, and when I wake up tomorrow, I'm sending Tannenbaum and Hickey each a nice bottle of Scotch with a note attached that reads

"You guys are fucking awesome...Thanks!
P.S. Don't forget my interior O-linemen come draft time.

Sincerely,

Your Franchise QB"
