Then I also have a problem following the puck. I know they tried to add some highlight to it during the playoffs a few years ago or longer, but that didn't work.
This is most people's biggest problem.  The puck is the smallest thing on the screen.  But, if you watch more than casually, you start to see the patterns of players skating which can tell you where the puck is, even if it was invisible.  Occasionally, even the players on the ice lose sight of it, just the nature of the sport.

Teams in the playoffs tend to lay off the nastiness at times.  But the current Rangers/Capitals series appears to be the exception.  These teams plain old don't like each other.  If you wanna see violence, tune in tomorrow for Game 2.

Playoff Hockey for sure.  Especially that game seven against the Detroit Red Wings.  That empty net goal had my eyes pop out of my head.

Watching poker is akin to wartching paint dry IMHO. If I wake up and it's on tv I'll change the channel before falling back to sleep.

I think there is also an inherent local bias to the question.  If you're from Miami or Tampa, your interest in playoff hockey might be greatly variable depending on who's playing.  If you're from Atlanta or New Orleans, you're probably less likely to care about playoff hockey (or hockey as a whole).

True, but I would say that's true for the majority of TV watchers and I doubt that Miami or Tampa residents are much higher or lower than the national average. It's not like Florida is known for it's hockey. I was just curious what our little piece of the internet had to think, I'm not really drawing any conclusions from this although I think it's fairly representative poll.

Well, I was pointing that out because poker doesn't really have similar regional ties.

In other words, if you run this poll on a Dolphins or Bucs forum, I think you would get significantly different results than on a Falcons or Saints forum.

I agree, but you may get even different results on a Bears or Giants forum as well (even more skewed toward hockey than Dolphins or Bucs). I imagine that a Dolphins or Bucs forum is somewhere in the middle and fairly representative of the national audience.

It doesn't really matter whether people are tuning in just to see their home town team play. If they are watching a hockey game they are watching hockey.

Hockey on TV bores the crap out of me, and I don't play hockey (at 50 years old and 300 lbs...in Florida, hockey isn't a realistic option<g>)

I agree, Last time I watched Hockey was in 1995 when the Fla Panthers made their Stanley cup Run. After that, I'm still amazed we south Floridians still have a Hockey club.
