Yes. I know he gets a bad rap but the available kickers on the market are worse than he is. It's only June so hopefully he is fine by August

If they can just find an average kicker, he's probably gone. He was on the bubble anyway.

On the bubble? with who?  Who's his camp competition?  You don't draft a kicker and then dump him after 1 or 2 seasons.

The fans may not like him, which I think is silly, but the coaches think he's our kicker.  There is no bubble.

Is it worth a roster spot for a kicker who can guarantee that the opponent will start each possession after a score on the twenty?

1) He isn't on the bubble
2) there are no average kickers out on the open market. They don't grow on trees

Sturgis was 28th in the league

I'd rather he missed several extra points and hit all his field goals

Sturgis missed only 1 FG inside 40 yards last season, making him 95.24 % accurate in that range (20/21).  This puts him 14th in the league, behind - you guessed it - Dan Carpenter (95.45%).  Only 11 kickers were perfect from that range, including 2 that only had 2-3 attempts.

Only 7 guys scored more FG's last season than Caleb Sturgis: Gostkowski, Carpenter, Folk, Parkey, Hauscka, Vinatieri, and Bullock.

He is tied for 8th in FGM but 3rd in FGA.  He missed 8 FG's all year, 4 from 40-49 and 3 from 50+.

Leave Sturgis alone, this team has way bigger problems.
