Which is why the Dolphins desperately need to fire Kevin Coyle. This season can be saved, but only by a competent defensive coordinator and Kevin Coyle is not competent. This defense has gone downhill ever since he took over. Go look at the stats. They've gotten worse every single year. He should have been fired last year. But it's not too late to fix this. Go get someone. Anyone. Throw out the entire defensive playbook and just tell them to line up and go hit someone against the Jets. I'm totally serious. It would be an improvement over what they did today. You have the bye week after that which gives you 3 weeks to come up with a new defense and then you get the Titans and the Texans before having to play the Patriots. It can be done, but only if you do it NOW! RIGHT THE FUCK NOW!!!

Year  Yards     Y/G    Pass  PY/G   Rush   RY/G  Points  P/G
2014  5494   343.4  3557  222.3  1937  121.1  373     23.3
2013  5750   359.4  3752  234.5  1998  124.9  335     20.9
2012  5708   356.8  3974  248.4  1734  108.4  317     19.8
2011  5522   345.1  3992  249.5  1530  95.6    313     19.6

It's over. The only way this may turn around is if all the main coaching staff is fired, and somehow the interim people do something, but that isn't going to happen.

It's over in regards to playoffs and such. Team has no heart and plays like it doesn't care. Just going through the motions and its very obvious. They are mailing it in. Combine that with having 2 starters on the o-line who aren't NFL players and its over. Can't overcome that. Douglas is in way over his head and Thomas blows. You can't overcome that.

Now I do expect at some point halfway through the season that some of the guys (mainly the ones in contract years or who know will be cut cause they are on glorified 1 year deals who know they will be cut at seasons end) will play with a lot of heart and passion to pad their stats or make a good impression for the rest of the teams in the league when they hit the open market come March.

To an extent, I am actually more okay with the guys who are just in over their heads or just aren't good enough football players to get it done than I am with the guys who have the talent but aren't putting forth the effort.

Not going to give up hope until Miami is mathematically out of the playoff hunt, but man it's not looking good.

Did you see the replays? We have Guards who literally jump out of the way of Defensive Linemen. They look like the L.A. rams blocking for Mr. Farnsworth in "Heaven Can Wait." Every Season Miami opens with a glaring weakness and we wonder why nobody noticed this in Training Camp. If the Guards were going to be THIS bad somebody should've noticed. Somebody should've said something. Somebody should be game planning around it.

This team simply does not want to play for Clueless Joe. Since Stephen Ross announced he was keeping Joe "The Ostrich" the team's 1-4, including two blowouts at home to the Jet and Bills, both coached by Rex Ryan.

These guys are simply running around on the field, cashing their paychecks.

It may not be over as we've seen crazier turnarounds but I think it's a safe bet that the chances of that happening is pretty slim. The fact we were embarrassed as we were and have not shown any life in three games kind of puts the final nail in the coffin for optimism.

What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

I think that was last December.

We all here said that after the 0-2 start in 2008.  Then the Fins turn it around but the One thing that the 08 Dolphins had compared to now was HEART. The team responded to Sparano.  The 2008 squad was terrible on both ends offense and defense. But yet still pulled out an 11-5... This Miami team is not gonna do that under philbin

They had an intelligent qb and an easy schedule which are two things they don't have this year.  TBH i think I would rank Sparano ahead of Philbin as a coach.

Seriously? Look at this photo (from the Bleacher Report thread) and explain how lining the DBs so far off the line of scrimmage on a short yardage play is not a scheme issue?
