This isn't a fair question.

It's not fair because the fans aren't knowledgeable about the inner workings of the organization.  But whoever makes the decision knows that there's some go-getter on the team with drive.  Pick him (or her).  They know whether the players respond better to Hickey or Lazor.  ...pick whichever of them.

If you saw a company tanking and they made a punch of public errors and the stock sank, you call for the head of the company.  You don't ask "then who do we promote?"

I don't care who you promote.  I care that there is accountability.

Accountability is not increased by a midseason firing, particularly when Philbin will continue to receive every dollar in his contract either way.  My point in keeping Philbin was that the coordinators are also so terrible that firing Philbin would not improve the team, and would just cause more of a circus.

HOWEVER

The single best game the Dolphins have played in the last 4 years was the one that Philbin had nothing to do with.  So I guess I may be open to getting rid of him.

Just curious, how come they didn't consider keeping Bowles on after 2011?

He was 2-1 and that one game they lost was to the Patriots when they blew that 17 point lead.

I'm sure they considered it.  They just didn't choose him.

Multiple reports out that a loss Sunday an the Fins are making changes to their coaching staff. Philbin is coaching for his career this Sunday.

Maybe the front office goes over Joe's head and fires Coyle and keeps Joe in place as a head coach but that would be an utter disaster.  I think you fire Joe and Coyle, promote Duffner to DC and Rizzi to head coach and just play out the season.

The Dolphins have had two interim coaches since the 2004 season.

Their record is 5-5.

That is better than the record of the regular coaches in that span.

You're about 4 (or 11) years too late to be asking that question.

Did you think we should have kept Jim Bates over hiring Saban at the time?
How about Bowles over Philbin?

If you didn't push for it then, there's not much point in complaining about it now.
