Honestly does it matter?

Nope. I'm on record saying the season is over.

They aren't getting any benefit of the doubt from me. They don't just sit around waiting on instructions from above. These guys have been responsible for coaching all week as well and they have not been performing.

Fine, but if the problem is the scheme, then what is a position coach going to do to resolve that? The Dolphins have deployed a read and react scheme under Coyle instead of an attack and disrupt scheme. If you are taking an extra half second to read the play, you're already a half second behind the play. Corners and safeties should be reading plays, MLBs as well. Defensive linemen should be disrupting or taking up blocks. In our scheme, the DTs are being asked to read and react. It is a ridiculous concept.

Lot's of people play that way. I played that same scheme. The problem is our players haven't bought into it or don't want to because it's more work for them.

If you are shooting gaps then it actually can become easier to block you.

I've never heard of defensive tackles needing to read and react.

It's pretty simple. You either beat the guy blocking you or he beats you.

When you're so close to the LOS, you should be disrupting play design, not waiting for the play to develop to decide what to do.

This is the same exact problem with the Hurricanes defense.

To augment and finalize my point, let's look at how Suh performed when he was a penetrator/disruptor in Detroit versus now where he is being asked to read and react.

The best pass rush Miami had Sunday vs the Jets was when Suh lined up at RDE for a few plays.

Like Tannehill, Suh can't do it alone. OV, Wake, Fede, Shelby have been poor this year.

LB should read and react unless blitzing. Dline just needs to fill their gaps.

Honestly does it matter? Not like they are going to turn it around this year. This year is over, it's a lost season.  A new DC whether inside hire or outside hire isn't making Cam Wake 5 years younger? Won't make Walt Aikens a capable NFL player. Won't make Shephard a decent MLB. Yes Coyle sucks and the coaching is bad, but coaching can only fix so much. The players aren't there
I don't buy it. The season is not over yet. I've seen worse train wrecks than this be fixed in a short enough time frame to save the season, but it won't be easy. They've got to do a 180 in 2 weeks and come out and play hard. Can that happen with Dan Campbell? I doubt it, but stranger things have happened. Maybe the season is over, but I'm not buying it until after the Titans game. If they play the way they have been playing against the Titans, then the season is over, but if they show improvement, just a modicum of improvement there is still time to save this year. Not save it to the tune of Superbowl, but save it to the tune of playing meaningful games at the end of the season.

Here's someone who knows a hell of a lot more about football than me explaining it.

^^^ I posted that link earlier today on this site. It makes sense, but Dan Campbell can't make Turner, Douglas, Thomas, Aiken, Shephard, and the corners who are struggling mightily QUALITY NFL players. There is no scheme to hide them. There is no magic wand to make them good overnight.

^^^ Yes, but that wasn't my point. I probably should have been more clear that I was talking about outside candidates. Given the performance of our staff do you actually think any of the position coaches are qualified to take on the role? I've got little to no faith on anyone on the staff at this point.

why?  You haven't been in  the meeting Campbell has.  Maybe there is an assistant linebackers coach that has been making solid suggestions to improve the defense  all season that Coyle dismisses but Cambell thinks is brilliant.
