Does he select LBer coach Mark Duffner who has has experience or give someone else a chance to prove themselves? Defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo has some coordinator experience but everyone else is very limited. There has been talk but I can't see them bringing in someone from the outside during mid season.

Personally ... I don't see how he doesn't give it to Duffner but stranger things have happened.

This is Miami, let's not assume they will even fire Coyle. I believe they will, but take nothing for granted with this team.

I am betting Coyle stays.

If Coyle and LAzor both stay, then we fired Philbin for nothing.

This was the argument I made against firing Philbin midseason: if you're going to keep both coordinators, might as well ride out the season.

That being said, Lazor and Coyle did pretty well in the one game that Philbin had nothing to do with (37-0 vs. SD last year).  So we'll see.

Philbin was fired to appease the fan base.  Send a message to the fans this is unacceptable and we know you are upset and we wont' stand for this. Should they have done it after last year, yeah probably. That ship has sailed though so can only live in the moment. After a 1-3 start and just a garbage team on the field it had to be done now. And if this team gets to 1-7 or 1-8 then you will see Hickey get fired too at some point to appease the fan base again in a month or so.

Public Relations matter! Sending a message to  the fan base was reason alone to fire Philbin.

I still don't have much of a problem with Lazor. It seems like he is hampered by the O-Line. After all, if Tanny is in shotgun and still gets hit within a second, what chance does a running back have of gaining yardage let alone escaping a tackle for a loss?

He isn't perfect, but I think the Line has just destroyed everything so much there is nothing to be done unless you want to bring back the Wildcat and use 4 trick plays every series.

Where have they gone public? No reporters are reporting that.

Although I did see this from Armando ... I am told if the Dolphins do hire from the outside, they will continue to run a 4-3 defense. And whomever comes in new must agree to learn the current terminology because one person learning new terminology is better than two dozen players learning new terminology

Well ... we know now that it is Defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo. I think it is funny that one of the first things he did was clarify we don't do the biggest thing everyone is complaining about.

Quote
Hal Habib ‏@gunnerhal  1h1 hour ago
Anarumo on 2-gap vs. 1-gap: We don't play 2-gap here, we haven't played it in 4 years. We are an aggressive, attacking front.

I guess it means he has already fixed the biggest gripe. Damn he is good!

Bigger question is will it make a difference?

From what I have seen the problem is the players, not the coordinator.

The problem with the players is that the coordinator was fucking an imbecile that he had to be told what his job was. Remember that 1st Jets game last year when the Jets rushed for 900,000 yards at the half because he kept protecting against the God that is Geno Smith instead of the run? He only stuffed the box once it was explained to him who exactly Geno Smith was and how bad he sucked.

Like I said before, players are children. Give them no leadership or respectable adults and they start skipping school and eating candy for dinner.

You definitely don't want to do that.

In this case, the players were insisting that they need vegetables and fiber, but the coach was trying to shovel all-you-can-eat ice cream down their throats.

Well that explains where is focus was. I am not sure if fucking an intelligent person would have improved the defense though.
