Let's say you're the GM and you're looking at talent.  Take into consideration quality of player, age, and cost.

Which 5 players do you build around to give you the best shot at the future?

Spider nailed it. I don't think this roster is deep enough that there would be many other options to consider.

Spider named them, but Jones might not be here long-term. The rest are 100% correct. The reason why the Fins head coaching job is attractive now is that you have a young QB who has gotten better every year (although this year might be a step backwards due to the piss poor o-line actually being worse and coaching chaos) and you have an anchor on defense in Suh.

Having a young QB under 30 who is getting better and one of the Top 3 defensive players in the NFL throw in the salary cap situation isn't as bad as the media makes it out to be and this job is attractive.

Now look after Suh the rest of the front 7 is garbage and the o-line is a dumpster fire. But the anchor's are there to build around. I know it's tough to do but right now on Oct 15 the  best thing for Miami to do is have a 1-15 or 2-14 season hold that #1 pick and trade down to a QB needy team and load up on draft picks like the Rams did with RGIII.  More young assets are needed!

I was all set to go into player-crunching mode to pick my five cornerstones, then I read Spidey's post and thought "Yeah, that's probably it right there."

No Dave. Grimes is OK but to be honest he is way undersized and just because he is our best corner at the time doesn't mean much in terms of a nucleus building block.

No love for Grimes?

He's on the bubble only because of his age.  Tannehill, Pouncey, Landry, Suh, Jones are still young and just hitting their stride, other than Suh.

Grimes contract and his wife's behavior and her radio show might get him sent packing after this season.

Sorta depends on how much the next Head Coach wants to tolerate with her and the circus she brings to the organization

I know it hasn't happened yet but I fully expect Devante Parker to be more important to our long term success than Landry ... and I love Landry.

Yeah, I'm hoping we see something from him before the season is over.

What is the word on Parker? Is he getting any reps at all? I expected to see him contribute at least a little more than this by now.

he had 2 or 3 catches in the jets game.  he was invisible yesterday.

To me, Landry is the best player on the team and it isn't even close.

Landry has enormous potential. Some people will knock him for height, size, whatever, but I don't see any reason for him not to become a pro bowl caliber receiver. He had a 75% catch rate last year. That's ELITE, regardless of offensive scheme (the knock would be "possession receiver").

He just has a certain spark that can really ignite the team when they're down. It'll be interesting to watch him develop over the next couple of years.
