Not a coincidence that they started by cutting offensive linemen. Jason Fox was let go paving the way for the Dolphins to save a whopping $1.4M off their 2016 salary cap. according to Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post ... Coach Gase is in charge of the 53 man roster so waiving Jason Fox was his first move as Dolphins coach.

Expect Jennings and Coples to go next, which is about $12 million in additional cap room and will get us firmly under the 2016 salary cap.

Like last year, a lot of our cap moves are pretty basic. Not a lot of sacrifices being made. Hardest one is Wake, but even that is pretty obvious. Hope he takes a cut to stay, he was very good once Coyle got fired.

I really don't want to lose Wake.  I hope he's willing to do a restructure.

I also don't want to lose B-Grimey, but I think his wife already wrote the end to that story.

Grimes doesn't want to be here as his time is running out. We may let him go and bring in inferior talent until next year. It doesn't sound like the Dolphins are so much worried about winning next season as much as seeing what Tanny's limits really are. If that is the case then we may spend this year concentrating on offensive help and waiting until next year to fortify the defense. That also means we let Wake go and re-sign long term players in Vernon, Shelby and Miller.

Count me in as someone hoping to restructure Wake,I feel he's a game changer for us.

I have a list of people I'm hoping we shed,or don't resign (some are pretty obvious that they'll be gone).

O.Vernon- ( I feel he's not worth the $$)
K.Sheppard
S.Paysinger
B.Grimes
G.Jennings
Brice McCain
Michael Thomas
Delmas (Such a bad resign IMO)
Dallas Thomas
Shelley Smith
Billy Turner

IMO needs to take a pay cut, restructure, etc or there's the door
J.Cameron
B.Albert
(I'd like to say Suh)

I like what Reshard Mathews did this year, but Don't see us bringing him back  Undecided

I'd be fine with Lamar Miller being resigned, but let's not go crazy

modified the list based on who's actually on the roster

Yes sorry CBS still listed him on the depth chart....

Modified to add, the Dion Jordan case is a head scratcher for me,He's expensive to release, but 1 oops form gone forever.

Releasing Jordan gives us an additional $3+ million in cap savings and about $3 million in dead cap.

We could find a better way to use those $3+ million in cap savings. Even hiring a water boy for $3+ million would bring more value.

I'd be perfectly happy with that scenario.

Fine with that too. Feel better with the team being okay with 5 wins and going for 11 the next year than going for 11 wins, getting 5 and repeating the same stupid shit over and over.

I agree with most of your list, except -

I think Miller and OV are must re-signs.  I think we could shed Wake and not feel it if and only if you keep OV and Jordan.

I would like to keep Grimes because he's the only good player at a position of need.  But I can't stand his wife, and she may cost him his job.  If so, then that's unfortunate.

I think Wake and Cameron should be asked to restructure.  I'd like to see Delmas come back from injury, because we have no free safety worth a crap.  This is Suh's big pay year so doubt he's going to do a damn thing.

Other than that, buh bye to all of them.

Why is keeping Jordan any sort of factor in your reasoning? I mean, he has given us exactly what to hope he would bring any value to the team at this point?

On Dion Jordan,I don't have a clue how Tannenbuam, the new D-coordinator,other front office staff, scouts view him.I'm not privy to their master plan. Cheesy

There is a ton of stuff I don't know about about the 2016 version of Dion Jordan. If we cut him, it's not big deal.no candle light vigils,I'm not opening a bottle of funeral whine a and passing it around...If we keep him I'm not excited either, the money isn't near as outrageous as I thought, and the past is the past.

Brian, I realize that Grimes was playing on gimpy knee for while, I'm not a fan of his size,or age (then add his wife) Tongue

I'm concerned Tannenbaum is going to try to get Eric Weddle.

Frankly, I'm not sure.  But if Dion Jordan in 2016 is still the guy he appeared to be when he was drafted 3 overall, then he could be a threat at DE.  I'm just saying I don't want to see us shed Jordan, OV, and Wake all to save money and turn what was a position of strength into a position of need.  We have enough needs on this team already, let's try to keep what has been working.
