Vikings give up a first round pick next year and a fourth rind pick in 2018.   Robbery.

Price is kinda high, but if Vikes did nothing, they give up the season.

Price is kinda high

That's a big understatement

but if Vikes did nothing, they give up the season.

So you give up the season, then you're in prime position to land Deshaun Watson in the draft next year.

WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP TRADING THINGS OF VALUE FOR SAM BRADFORD?

I literally cannot understand EITHER of his trades.  He is complete garbage!

Exactly. Look through his trading and salary history, has any player ever cost as much as Sam Bradford? He has never been anything other than injured garbage, what the hell are people thinking? The Vikings made a trade that gets a GM fired.

It's worse because depending on the Vikings Win/Loss record, that 4th can become a 2nd rounder.

Good for Sam.  He played the game and won, even though all he could ever do is lose...and get hurt.

His salary has been atrocious, but his trade value is nothing to write home about.

Using this draft pick value calculator, here's the top three trades I could think of...

Ricky (WSH to NO, then NO to MIA): 4445  + 1601 = 6046
RG3 (STL to WSH): 5490
Herschel Walker (DAL to MIN): 4221.45 (plus 5 veterans DAL received from MIN)

Obviously we don't know the value of the 2017 and 2018 picks MIN gave PHI as they are not yet slotted, but based on where MIN picked in 2016:

Bradford (STL to PHI, then PHI to MIN): 492.5 (plus Foles) + 812 = 1304.5

I was interested in the values for the top two trades that took place for this year's draft, so I looked that up too:

Jared Goff (TEN to LA): 3350.4
Carson Wentz (CLE to PHI): 3289.5

As far as I can tell, RG3 has the highest draft pick value in one trade ever, while Ricky has the most total draft pick value in combined career trades.

No, Minnesota really would not be in prime position to land the #1 overall pick. Even without their QB, they are still a middle-of-the-pack team. I think they would have to lose a half dozen (or more) additional starters if they want to compete for the top pick.
