Bye week is over and one of the most important games of the year is coming up. Personally, games against the Patriots rank a bit higher, but I know a lot of you guys have a special place in your black heart for the Jets.

What will happen as the thundering Dolphins' rushing offense meets the one of the best run-stopping teams in the league? Can the low-flying Dolphins passing attack finally get going against one of the leagues worst passing Ds? Can the on-again, off-again (mostly off-again) Jets offense get anything going against a Dolphins defense that has been almost equally bipolar?

This is one of those games where, on paper at least, it looks like everything could just grind to a halt.

Personally, I'm grabbing Landry in my fantasy league. For one week the Dolphins could look like a real passing threat.

First play call in this game should be a play-action bomb.

I think we win this game soundly.  We're off a bye, at home, on a roll, and the Jets are bad.

24-13.

Looks like Dion Sims is back, btw. He was listed as "full participation" in yesterday's practice.

But we ran so well using an extra lineman in there ... lol. Jets's are tough to run on according to stats but their DBs are so bad I don't really think it gets tested a lot. I think Miami runs and hits a few big plays. The Cubs won and so it's Miami's turn to bounce back.

Miami is excellent at running the ball, and the Jets are excellent at stopping the run.  On other hand Jets passing defense is suspect and the Fin passing offense is less than stellar.  So do emphasize the run or the air on Sunday?  No right or wrong answer but it is two different coaching philosophies.

Tony Dungy would run the ball his approach is do what ever you do best you do almost with out regard for the other team.

Bill Belichick would be pass heavy, look to exploit the other teams weaknesses.

Which would you do?

While I really like Tony Dungy I can't help but think Bilichick's approach has done him well. In soccer it's very common to identify the weakness of your opponent and then to take advantage of it while in football it's more typical, within reason, to stay with the "my way or the highway" football schemes. I may come out throwing in this game but I'd definitely have to make them defend the run against us as that has been our huge strength. Besides ... we kind of owe it to our O-line and RB.

We're going to get some coffee and sober up Anthony Rizzo, strap a Larry Csonka style helmet on him,and let his adrenaline from the W.S. run wild on the Jets...
Jets-3
Rizzo's 44

 Cheesy

Ok, Ok, I'll stop...In All seriousness,I think We're going to come out really flat in the 1st half,Be down something like 10-3,10-6,13-3..A Nice stop on Defense, then a nice punt return gets us into field goal range type 1st halves. In the 2nd half we'll show up,and find a way to rally and win..

I agree with CF, but I think you have to take a long hard look at what's been working for the Dolphins in the pass game and what's been working (best) against the Jets. For example, the Jets are actually pretty decent against #1 receivers. That would be Revis-peninsula. Yeah, he's getting a lot of flack, but that's simply because he used to be so amazing. He's still done fairly well overall this season when you look at the guys he's had to cover.

In general, the Jets have been softest over the middle and deep right (seen from the offense), but actually pretty firm on the whole left side (seen from the offense) of the field. This is just looking at the numbers and of course the tape will reveal to Dolphins' coaches exactly what's been going on. Thankfully, the Jets don't have much of a pass rush, so Tannehill should have some time in the pocket to find the right (i.e. left) receivers.

As for the vaunted Jets run-D, they've actually been downright pedestrian compared to the rest of the league when the runner breaks through the push up front, so I wouldn't be surprised if Ajayi rips some nice long runs, in addition to getting stuffed a lot.

Miami will get off to a slow start with the bye week hangover, BUT Tannehill will come back with a huge 2nd half - Total passing Yds 463, 3 TD's, no int's.
