@MiamiDolphins: We have acquired linebacker Stephone Anthony in a trade with the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a 2018 undisclosed draft pick.

Former 1st rd pick, played alot in 2015....He was on his way out with the Saints....

An article written a few weeks ago about him...(it feels like amobile site)
https://whodatdish.com/2017/08/24/new-orleans-saints-writing-is-on-the-wall-for-stephone-anthony/

They didn't think he was smart enough?  Huh

@schadjoe: Sean Payton has said Stephone Anthony, 25, is "explosive" and "disruptive" but "keys, diagnosis and instincts at times are off."

Another link to a story about him...

Saints also said Stills was too dumb a WR to play with Brees cause he couldn't learn all the routes. He has worked out well in Miami #JustSayin

Miami is at the point where if a player has a pulse he will be given a shot.

I think we all learned our lessons over the years with QB's and the O-Line to never say "How can it be worse?", but right now we are basically last in Linebacker play. The only place lower is Historically Bad, which is possible but it's not that far of a fall if this kid sucks and Timmons is gone for good.

I would imagine that this kid's performance the next few weeks will play a very large role in deciding whether Timmons is allowed back after the 4 week suspension.  I like the Gase philosophy of no single player is bigger than the team.  It will be interesting to see whether he sticks to that in a situation like this where they will be in a world of hurt at LB this year without Timmons.

I don't know, Hull wasn't terrible. My guess is that Timmons is gone. I don't know if you saw some comments from Gase over the weekend but he basically said that he has 2 rules. Show up on time and play hard. Well Timmons basically broke both rules.

Hull targeted 9 times in the passing game vs the chargers gave up 9 catches for 95 yards. I don't think Timmons future depends on Anthony and his play. I believe both are separate of each other.

Hull just isn't a starter

I think it is easier to simplify the playbook for a WR than LB.  Can't learn every route we will just have you run the ones you know as long as you can execute on those you can still contribute.  Can't learn how to react for every offensive play....now you are useless.

I disagree. I think Hull will turn out OK. Not all LBs are good in pass coverage. Especially when they're young and thrown into a situation. You have to realize that he played on every defensive snap of the game. We only had 4 active LBs and the Chargers couldn't capitalize on it. So I think Hull did pretty good for being thrown into this situation. Also, I think he lead the team in tackles.

Do I want him playing every snap all season long? Of course not. We need help at LB position. However, our secondary doesn't look fresh as a daisy either. All in all, I like Hull and think he is a very serviceable LB.

Hull stinks and isn't an NFL starter. I'm not sure he is an NFL back-up really. He wouldn't make most teams 53 man roster

That's just you throwing shit against the wall to see if it sticks...he may not be a starter, but he is most definitely a serviceable backup and plays special teams very well.

Yeah, that's like your opinion. When they fire Gase and promote you, I'll take your opinion under advisement. But since he played every defensive down last week on an NFL team, technically he is an NFL starter. And he also lead the team in tackles last week.

So while I agree that he isn't an every down LB and shouldn't be used as one. He definitely has a place as a situational role player. There are other people at other positions on defense that I would replace before Hull without batting an eye...

Leading the team in tackles is meaningless. He was thrown at 9 times and beaten 9 times in coverage for 95 yards. You aren't looking at the total picture. There is a reason why Miami wanted to trade for Anthony for weeks, its to replace Hull cause Hull can't cut it. He had some tackles in the running game when Suh and Godchaux was doing all of the heavy lifting there, great, but he was a huge liability in the passing game that almost cost Miami a win. If Hull is so great Miami wouldn't have signed Rey Maulaluga or traded for Anthony.  And he would have been the starter over Raekwon McMillian from day 1.

But of course all of those facts blow up your argument so...BYE FELICIA!

And if you don't think Hull is the weakest link on defense among the starters then you are so blinded by homerism or are Mike Hull's relative or something. That is crazy talk. Hull and the MLB spot is the weakest spot on this defense and its not even close

Who the hell is Felicia? Obviously you didn't read my post or you can't read. No one ever said Hull was great. Anyhow, since you have to be right in order to bolster your fragile ego. Your opinion is the correct one and the only one that matters. Do you feel better now? Or do you need a latte, tissues, and a safe space? Either way, no one REALLY cares.
