What do you say when you're approaching a stranger in public?
I always say Sir,Ms.,or Mam..."Excuse me Sir","Excuse me Ms"...
This something that I seem to notice a lot lately,or I'm just paying more attention to now.How people address others in public, more specifically a stranger for info.
This morning On my walk/run some guy asking me what time it was "Yo Dude". My underlings how they ask people,Guy's tend to just use "Hey","Hey man",or "Dude" (if they're younger) with another man.Guy's to ladies, tend to just say "excuse me",then go into What time, can you hand me that, etc, etc.
I say sir and m'am but it isn't the norm around here. The farther north I go where it is actually considered south ... it is common. Southern people tend to make eye contact more and are just generally friendlier IMO.
