Without looking it up: Jim Bates.

Actually, Hoodie, that's a great point!  The OP is wrong.  There are TWO Miami Dolphins head coaches who are undefeated against Bill Belichick.

Jim Bates is 1-0 against Bill Belichick:
NE 28 @ MIA 29, 12/20/04

Don Shula is 2-0 against Bill Belichick:
MIA 27 @ CLE 23, 9/14/92
MIA 24 @ CLE 14, 10/10/93

Oddly enough,

Don Shula is also undefeated against Jimmy Johnson.

Make that threeish........

Jimmy Johnson, a former Dolphins head coach, is 1-0 vs Belichick.  Granted JJ was head coach of Dallas for that game.

Not even close to threeish. If Johnson never lost to him while at Miami for some reason then you could go there.

JJ never lost to BB while at Miami!  Granted he never won either, they didn't meet.  But JJ 1) was a Miami head coach and 2) has a non-zero undefeated record vs BB.

I should have made it clear who is the only Dolphins coach with an undefeated record against Bill Belichick as coach of the Patriots.

In that case, it would be Jim Bates.

Bill Belichick's first year at New England was Wannestedt's first year at Miami, 2000.  Miami swept NE that year.

Wannestedt's career record against Belichick was 4-5.

I am not sure how that is relevant to anything.  There are three Miami head coaches with a career record of X-0 vs BB.  DS, JB and JJ.

I forgot they didn't match up. I could have sworn BB was there longer, it sure feels like it.

JJ coached Dal 89-93; BB coached Cle 91-95.

In 1991, in his very first game as a head coach of the Browns (BB) lost to Dallas (JJ).

92 & 93 CLE and Dal didn't meet (diff conf)

JJ coached MIA from 96-99, but BB wasn't a head coach.
