Thoughts on the game:

Tannehill looked solid.

Drake is going to be a top 5 RB.  His speed and acceleration is unreal, and he looked impressing catching the ball on that deep wheel route.

Quinn is so fast coming around the corner.

Amendola might bring more to the team than I thought, he's wiry.

Fitzpatrick impressed again.

Backup QBs aren't good, let's pray Tannehill doesn't go down.

Thoughts on the game:

All solid points, I really like Minkah and I think he could be a special player long term.  Sees the plays develop, attacks and makes the tackle.  I'm a Bama fan, so I was ecstatic when they selected him with the 1st pick.

I think Bama players are prepared at the next level and Saban's attention to this is some of the best in CFB.

IMO, I think the MIA org. has shied away from drafting Bama players in the last decade because the way he left.  I wish they would have drafted some LBs out of Bama

I would probably bet that they have Moore's number on speed dial in case of that catastrophic event. But then again I could be wrong, LMAO.

Omar Kelly made a great point today about our back-up Qbs. Joe Rose had asked him if he thought our back-up QB was on the roster today and Omar said this ...  If Tannehill goes down ... do you really want to win any more games? Hmm. Maybe he's on to something.

I think Ryan started off a little rough but everyone knows he is working off some rust. It's been a long time since he's been under the lights.  It was nice to see him pull it together to string two nice series to end the half.

I think Minkah is the man but most people already knew that before we even drafted him. I also loved that our first TD was by Landry's replacement, Gesicki's first catch was for a first down and Robert Quinn seems to be everything they sold us on. Hopefully those are good signs for a productive future.

Drake continues to prove he is more than capable of being what Gase is looking for in a back. This offense suits him.

I was also happy with our first string defense against the run but am concerned with depth. The truth is we are a young team so it may take a few games before we start noticing many of our future stars are blossoming ... especially our LBers.

I pretty much agree with whatever everyone has already said on this thread.

I still don't think the offensive line is ready and I'm concerned about the middle of our defensive line.  There were times against the second team when they just couldn't collapse the pocket the way you want them to.

I agree, the offensive line needs to gel better.  The linebackers need to grow up quick, they announced Baker as a starter.  So that's a rookie and a 2nd year player (McMillan) that hasn't played a snap as 2/3 starting LBs.  DTs need more consistency.  There are definitely holes and reasons to worry, however, I am overall optimistic about the offense.

Linebacker has been a weak spot for the Fins for a while now.  Watching that unit pretty closely throughout pre season has me fearing that pretty early in the regular season I will be bringing up my draft week rantings about how much I wanted them to pick Tremaine Edmunds in the first round and how he was sitting there waiting to be picked when the Fins passed on him.  No disrespect to Minkah Fitzpatrick.  The guy is a baller and will be an excellent NFL player.  But LB is such a glaring weakness on this team that I just don't think they had the luxury for going for "Best Player Available At Any Position" instead of landing a stud who is only 19 years old at LB.   I have a feeling that Tight Ends and Running Backs coming out of the backfield are going to burn our LBs just as bad as they did last year.  And the year before.  I hope I'm wrong.

I like the Minkah pick.  He has the potential to be an Ed Reed type.  Edmonds will likely be above average-good, but not great (Who knows for sure though?)  I'd rather have Ed Reed over Lance Briggs.

You could be right.  We are all (me included) just making educated guesses at this time.  I don't doubt for a second that Mink will be an excellent NFL player.  I guess I am just tired of watching our LBs get owned year after year.

You basically have two rookies in there now so there are going to be more growing pains at LBer. We have an old and young team with only a few players who are proven.  We need our rookies to step up and our old guys to play like they did in their prime. It most likely won't happen all at once but these rookies won't be the issue by years end.

hahah ... He seems a bit racist and I definitely don't agree with everything he says .... as doesn't the radio hosts, but he does makes some valid points. It isn't all negative BS. Most of the writers do a decent job overall. Well ... except for Andy Cohen and that's because he works directly for the club.

^I don't know about that...but he's a hack.  He's from the "Let me say aggressive tripe for a reaction" school of thought.

Yes. I would LOVE to see David Fales come in and win a few games. The playoffs are a long shot no matter who the QB is and I really don't think Fales instead of Tannehill would make the team go winless the rest of the way. By and large fans put WAY too much emphasis on the QB. Miami won 6 games with Cutler last year and he was bad for most of the year.
