Without an off season program, nobody else will be ready.

Unless we drafted Burrow, this was the reality all along. If we draft Tua, they probably wanted him to hold a clipboard at least 4-6 weeks to make sure he is 100% healed and ready for an NFL workload.

Agreed, though i would even venture he won't see the field until even late in the season weeks 10-12 or if we're blowing someone out (not likely).  I think they want whoever they draft (Tua for my money) to sit behind FitzMagic and learn from him, study like you've never studied before cause this is a long term investment.  I think Fitz is the perfect QB to do that providing leadership, plus a chance to win.  I think you throw him early, confidence could be eroded and set back even more.

Now, this could all go to shit if Fitz gets injured, but i think Dolphins are in for the long haul with this plan. Believe it or not, I think Fins go 6-10 (maybe a win better) again, but they are no large blowouts, team plays better as a whole and you can see the team taking shape.

AFCE has the hardest scheduled in the NFL next season.  We finish 7-9 and WIN THE DIVISION, that's what can happen without Tom Brady in the AFCE.

That's meaningless .. you don't know the schedule strength in the nfl until the season is almost over .. good teams will shit the bed and bad teams will be great . .that's the way of the nfl

I was thinking the same thing.  And depending on the team's record after 4 - 6 weeks, it might be best to "redshirt" Tua (if they get him) anyway.

I'm OK with Fitz being the starter all year long if necessary.

While coaching matters every year, this year it will matter more.  With little or no off season teams that can get their shit together quickly will get a significant lead early on.

Can Fitz be a good QB this year? His stats weren't pretty last year but he obviously had no talent whatsoever and ran for his life on every play and he still managed to win 5 games and be decent.

With an improved everything this year, is it possible he actually plays well and can lead us to a playoff spot?

I think playoffs is a stretch, but I can see 7 or 8 wins. More then that is hard to see right now as I just went back and rewatched most of the season on gamepass and honestly I don't know how Miami won 5 games. They shouldn't have honestly. They were blown out in most games they lost and won most of the close games. There were only 2 close games they didn't win. While I certainly don't expect as many blow out losses next year, I don't think they win as high of percentage of close games.

Was anyone really thinking that Fitz wouldn't be the QB this year? I thought that was a given. Dolphins are +900 to win the division. I swear I'm thinking of taking this bet before it changes. It isn't going to take a miracle change to be better than the other three.

I'd put some money on that. The Jets aren't a good team, the Patriots very clearly are going backwards and I feel like the Bills just weren't as good as their record, plus not a fan of Josh Allen. I wouldn't bet your house on it but $100 would pay out $1000. I imagine those odds will lower substantially after the draft too.

You should go to gamepass and watch the Dolphins against Josh Allen in last year's games. He ate us up. I'm with you that he's not all that, but at least against Miami he was terrific. Miami was clearly outclassed in both of their games. It really wasn't as close as the score indicated which was still pretty lopsided. I think Miami might have a chance against New England this year, but not sure about Buffalo. They are loaded. They really are. Got a feeling that Buffalo will win 11 or 12 games this year and Miami, Jets and New England could all be around 7 to 9 wins.

We will have several edge players that we didn't last year. Flores is big into setting the corners ... which oddly enough isn't the standard today. Not sure how that happened.  I think our defense will be night and day different just on that alone.

I saw those games and he did kill us, but our secondary consisted of a homeless man and the winner of the "Pick a Fan" contest where one lucky fan got to play in our secondary for the whole game.

He has talent but he needs to make a big leap forward this year or Buffalo is going to draft a new QB.
