Step by step:
1. Determine with certainty that she’s an active attorney 2. Check state’s ethics Rules on lawyers’ business dealings with non lawyers - see if there is any helpful language there (and if you have access to Westlaw or lexis, do some research on if a court has extrapolated on said helpful language) 3. Assuming there is helpful language in the ethics rules, send her a Certified letter return receipt requested asking for money back and explaining circumstances, and with a deadline that says: plz respond by [date x] 4. Wait for date x - if she calls and tried to work it out, deal with her in absolute good faith. 5. If she doesn’t respond, file a bar complaint - look to her state’s bar for how to do it - in my state it’s as simple as putting it in writing and signing your name to it.
