Anything that could damage Lawrence's stock enough to get him to fall past the first 2 picks would make him radioactive for a team that already has a talented young QB prospect.

We're talking life-threatening car accident, arrested for kiddie porn, tried to overthrow the government... that level of red flag.

I guess we can file the following report under the headine: Can Newton the Starter per NEP WR

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/03/25/nelson-agholor-cam-newton-can-do-whatever-needs-to-be-done/

I am absolutely certain that BB shared the exact plans he has at QB with each FA WR he talked with, this absolutely kills  NE in their trade negotiations. Smiley Smiley

I don't see what the fuss is about. They are going to take a QB, that's not the question. The question is will he start next year? Maybe he will and maybe he won't. That's all that's going on here.

It would be very unlikely for the drafted QB to not start Week 1 for the Jets. Darnold isn't some 39 year old veteran who knows his place, he is 23 years old and waNts to play every week. Because of that, he will be traded if the Jets draft a QB.

It would actually be very interesting to see what the market value would be for Darnold.  I'm sure that some teams look at him as not truly tested because of the lack of decent personnel around him on the Jets offense and some teams look at him as not being very good.  I'm sure that enough teams think he hasn't been tested because he was surrounded by bad personnel and coaching that they would pay a pretty hefty trade price for him.

He's worth a gamble at the right price, but to me the right price is a 3rd or 4th rounder. Rosen got a 2nd rounder because he just had one year in the league, this will be Dranold's 3rd year and while I admit he hasn't been getting a fair shake, he also hasn't risen to any type of occasion either.

If NY drafts a QB, they should just get whatever they can for him. Having him on the team is a huge distraction that isn't worth it. Fitz outplaying Tua didn't help his growth and neither will Sam help the growth of whoever they take.

Traded to whom? Who would want him? Regardless, he's still your starter until someone replaces him. That's what you tell a WR that just joined your team regardless of what the draft may bring.

I'm sure some team would be willing to part with a role player or a low round draft pick for him

Teams that strike out in the draft or trade markets.

The Eagles were desperate to get the #3 pick because they wanted Wilson badly but they came to learn the Jets are going to draft him instead so they went to their backup plan.

So, Lawrence and Wilson are your first 2 picks. I think Trey Lance is going to the Niners and I don't know what the Falcons are doing. They need a QB for the future but if they don't like Fields then they are taking a WR/Sewell. Bengals will not be happy if they take Sewell.

Teams always overpay for Quarterbacks.  I wouldn't be surprised if some team gives the Jets a 2nd rounder for Darnold.  Or at least a 3rd rounder.
