32/40
80% Completion
291 Yards
4 TD
2 INT

What am I missing here? Tua hasn't even played a full 16 games and he gets better every game. QB Rating in 2021 through 3 games is 95.1 Why are we expecting our rookies to break Marino's records immediately? You want your young QB to get better from year to year and who thinks Tua is worse in 2021 than 2020? The guy still has no O-Line and Mr. Glass never seems to suit up when he is playing and he is still doing well.

The INTs were dumb mistakes but you can learn from that and do better, it's not like learning to throw the ball away is harder than learning to read a defense. Josh Allen was garbage his first 2 seasons and about to be replaced until he exploded after getting the best receiver in the league. Can we give Tua at least 16 games before shipping him out?

I don't have a problem with Tua's on field play.

Tua is the only the second QB to lose with 4TDs and a completion percentage of over 80%. He's not the issue and he is getting better.

That's the key, he is getting better. Better doesn't mean he should be like Aaron Rodgers by now, it just means going in the right direction. 95.1 QBR and trending upwards despite everything against him, I'm very fine with that.

Honestly, it is the poor performances at the end of the year that I think are sticking with a lot of Miami fans.

No problem with Tua either. I think the front office/coaches have let the team down overall with not addressing the glaring issue the last 10-15 years:  OFFENSIVE LINE

you get a better a OL:
1. better QB play
2. better RB play with holes to run thru
3. more time on the field to allow the DEF to rest and execute

Until this fundamental issue is addressed, this team will continue flounder and get the product on the field we see every Sunday

You're probably right, but the end of the season, Tua wasn't playing at a reasonable level and I think with recovering from the injury and not having a full grasp of the Offense and hesitancy to make the throws.

I won't shit on them for ignoring the OL because they haven't, they ahve addressed it many times with draft picks. I will shit on them for poor coaching and maybe drafting the wrong guys though.

As far as running goes, Gaskin is by far our best RB and Flores just refuses to give him 20 touches. At this point, it has to be personal.

That's what I mean, they haven't been addressed correctly.  Yes, they've drafted some guys but that are shit.  Drafting Jackson out of USC?  Who the fock has come out of USC in the last 20 yrs on the OL and been a stud? That's just poor evaluation.

I believe they don't run Gaskin often enough cause they don't believe they will get the yardage cause they know they have a poor OL.  They try to get him in space on screens.

I can accept that excuse for Gaskin IF they didn't have Brown and Salvon getting over 50% of the touches despite inferior play. Flores just don't want Gaskin as the featured back and it makes no statistical sense now. 4.5 YPC for Gaskin and 4.6 for Derrick Henry. Of course, Henry is better and amazing but with our O-Line? The kid is playing well and deserves 20 touches, it's just bad coaching that he doesn't get it.

I'm sold on Tua, it's the rest of the team that sucks.

I agree they have attempted to address the O-line multiple times with high draft picks.  It's hard to believe they could be wrong so many times with high draft picks, at this point I think you have to blame the coaching.

As for the running game, I think the O-line was so horrendous to start the season that opposing teams were just jamming the box.  IMO they had to go to short passes to get the defense to back up a little; which has greatly reduced the number of running plays per game.

It took us like 5 weeks to realize we should run a lot of shotgun formations to give the QB more time to throw. I don't usually say things like "I could coach better" because there are a lot of intricacies in sports and it isn't as easy as it looks but in terms of OUR offensive coaching? I don't think I could do worse. I know shit about defense but "use your best runner instead of your worst runner" and "use shotgun formation since the O-Line is terrible" really doesn't make me a descendant of Vince Lombardi.

The issue here is that Tua's performance is being viewed within the context of his taking the developmental step forward in 2021 that would make this team go from 10-6 last year to something highly competitive in the playoffs this year.  He's in fact taking that developmental step forward, but the performance of the team around him has regressed, which makes him need to play at a level beyond his expected development to compensate.  We're essentially watching this team need a QB without a full year of starts to surmount what the opposition is doing to this team, and it's highly unlikely any QB would play at that level.  Tua in year two after 12 complete games in the league isn't going to be the Dan Marino this team needs to surmount what's going on with it.  But because the team is functioning the way it is, the inclination is to watch their games with that hope in mind, and in that case he's inevitably going to disappoint.
