X.

edit: On second thought, I agree with giving the game ball to DC Josh Boyer.  X gets my honorable mention.

Boyer for sure.  This was the most aggressive defensive play calling that the Dolphins have utilized all year.  They got back to a lot of the stunt blitzes, etc. that were so successful for the defense last year.

Ogbah.   He terrorized the Baltimore offensive backfield all night long.

Tua and Boyer, although it must be said that where the fuck has this defensive playcalling been the entire season? We start being more aggressive once we are eliminated from the playoffs? Makes me think Flores took over some stuff and messed up.

Tua
Boyer

Hear, hear!!!! He came up with a gameplan and they executed to a perfection. This is by far, was the most entertaining game this entire season.  In fact, it may be the most dominated game by the Phins since Flores took over.

It was a great win and something to hold onto for this season.  It was good to see that the team hasn't quit, cause I thought they might have (or at least a handful of them) even after the HOU win last week.

After re-watching the game this morning, Baker had an excellent game as well.

After re-watching the game this morning, Baker had an excellent game as well.

i thought the same as well when watching. He was flying to the ball, making some great tackles.  It's like he had an extra gear. i will say this, I saw and interveiw that Big O was doing with this week Omar "Hater" Kelly and one of them referenced that Baker wasn't a thumper.

not sure if he heard these comments or not, but he was a thumper last nite.  Glad to see it.

If I'm doing a player on the single best performance then I'm taking Jevon Holland. Rookie balled out from the first play of the game and never looked back!!

Mine has to go to Motherfucking Howard (thanks pondwater!)  Wink Cheesy

That one play by X (strip fumble, then return for the score) simply won us the game, right there and right then, up to that point we were just hanging in there... and yeah he gave up the PI the play before, but he was beaten by the WR's cut and just had to hold on to prevent a TD the other way. Sometimes it's just the lesser of two evils and smart to give up the penalty (Gilmore was voted Defensive Player of the year a couple of years ago for doing this exact same stuff every week).

That said, the whole defense deserves an honorable mention - it's good to see them get back to what they did well last year, bringing the extra men and cranking up the pressure. Special mention to Holland - of all the highlights packages so far, he really stood out in this one with his perfectly timed blitzes and tackles.

As for honorable mentions on the offensive side of the ball - I''l start with Tua. Seeing him go through his reads, looking the whole field before hitting Waddle on the long pass...to the unbelievers, just go back and look at that play over again... Or what he did against the Chiefs last year (with Tony Romo critiquing in the commentary). This kid has talent we have not seen in a long time. Give him some protection and deep targets! Oh, and Brissett should never start for us again - FULL STOP!

As for those targets... was that Wilson's best game for us? Waddle, another solid game with great catches (although to date I have not seen anything remotely like the Tyreek Hill comparisons when he was drafted - am I missing something here?) Ford was solid, but I'm still not sold on him.

With the bigger guys, Gesicki had a very quiet night (I'm guessing he was blanketed), but again Shaheen, Smythe and Hollands all had some clutch moments. We really should just suck it up and re-sign all these guys (instead of wasting a pick at the last draft on an area that we didn't really need to)

Special mention for Hunt as well, consistently our best OL, and for this game at the very least for pure entertainment value. Not sure if he was supposed to be an eligible and someone screwed up, or the screen was supposed to be for Gaskin and he wound up being closer and just grabbed the ball...  full credit to him for finishing off the run to the end zone, and crunching a few of the opposition on the way.

I've got to go with Jevon Holland. He just seems to be making plays on every snap.

He is quickly turning into something special.  He seems to always be in position to make a play on the ball in the secondary and when he blitzes he almost always get close enough to hurry the QB even if he doesn't get the sack.  I just wish they would stop having him return kicks.  Too valuable of an asset to risk with that stuff.

He blitzed more times in a game than any DB since before Next Gen Stats started recording that stat (2016). Number 2 on that list... his partner in crime, Brandon Jones. (Same game, btw)
