If he was a free agent this year, it would be at LEAST $55 million per year.  And that's a huge underestimate.

Aaron Rodgers makes $50 million a year.  He is the highest paid quarterback in the league.

While I don't agree with your calculation methods, if Tua was a free agent right now, a handful of teams would give him a 5 year deal for at least $30 Million a year. Very likely not guaranteed so there is some way out if he keeps having concussion issues.

Quarterbacks of any worth usually don't become free agents and Tua has worth, so he would be snatched up quickly.

Ehh..probably a little more than that and less than the high end speculated here.

He has the upside to take a swing on, but these concerns will lower the dollar amount, and as mentioned any contract would probably have some form of protection against injury…

I think teams would definintley pay him starter money but the guarantees would be lower than the norm. It wouldn't be top 3 in the league type money but it would still be pretty good. His injury history really works against him.

The injury guarantees are separate from what we would normally call "guaranteed money," and I don't think any NFL starter is signing a contract that cuts him loose if he gets hurt.

Tua was throwing to one of the top, if not the best, WR tandem in the league with Hill and Waddle; on another team he isn't putting up those big numbers.  When I think back to games this season Hill and Waddle were making some spectacular catches AND had a lot of yards after the catch.  Tua's "numbers" had a lot to do with Hill and Waddle.

Both Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes had some pretty good receivers as well... so  maybe their "numbers " should be discounted as well... Tua was awesome this year.

The Dolphins had an average of 4.9 YAC/reception for the 2022 season, below league average. That's not to say Waddle and Hill aren't great, but Tua didn't benefit from a bunch of YAC - on the contrary. The whole "the Dolphins are a YAC team where Tua just dumps it off to Hill and he runs with it" narrative was popular in the media during the season, but it was never accurate. (Hill finished outside the top 50 in YAC/reception, while Waddle did much better (particularly in the second half of the season, ironically after Tua's play faltered) and finished in the top 10.)

Well that's just inane.  Bridgewater and Thompson weren't the #1 QB's on the team for the last two seasons, they didn't have the workouts with Waddle and Hill to get their timing down with the receivers.  Nor did they play in as many games as Tua so I wouldn't expect them to have the same numbers as Tua.  I'm not saying Tua's not a good QB, he's pretty good after three seasons, when he is on the field.  My point is if you put Tua on any of about 25 other teams in the league I don't think he'd have half the numbers he had this year.
