Crazy!!!!!

AFC QBs

Derek Carr
Trevor Lawerence
Tyler Huntley

NFC QBs

Geno Smith
Kirt cousins
Jared Goff

I think in the future some NFL teams may redo their contracts for QBs in terms of Pro Bowl bonuses. They will still be there, but some additional wording like "No bonus paid out if you are the 9th alternate" will be added. Imagine owing your backup QB $1 Million because the 16 guys ahead of him said no?

If the money isn't on the following year's cap, who cares?  I don't give a damn about saving money for Steve Bisciotti or Zygi Wilf.

I just read that Josh Allen is skipping pro bowl due to injury but is competing in Pebble Beach golf tournament.

Football is such a dangerous sport that no game should be played. It should just be a Skills competition. Even then, these guys are beat to hell after a long NFL season. I don't think Josh Allen has any desire to throw a football right now, especially after getting crushed in the playoffs.

I can imagine a whole host of injuries that would prevent someone from playing football but not prevent them from golf.  There is a reason you see more 70 year olds on the golf course than the gridiron.

Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa remains in concussion protocol, won’t participate in Pro Bowl

The fact he still hasn't been released from protocol seems rather concerning.

Read more at: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article271716142.html#storylink=cpy

Reports are that Tua has now cleared the protocol and that the choice to keep him in it was deliberate (meaning he could have cleared it earlier, but there was no reason to call in the outside experts and get the testing and paperwork done).

Tua gives his reason for not attedning Pro Bowl and I'm 100% on board. I didn;t thinkn he should have either. It would have been a bad look.

“I’m good. I didn’t think it was necessary the first thing I came back to do football-related wasn’t team related with the Dolphins,” Tagovailoa said on the Dan Le Batard show

The problem with Tua is that he talks a good game. When he starts practicing what he preaches he'll be a lot better QB in my humble opinion.

I'm not sure what you are meaning. What has he said that contridicted what he did?

The specific instance I can remember was after his first concussion where he talked with reporters while he was still waiting to return to playing while in the protocol and said he needed to be more careful and play smart and things along that nature. I don't have exact quotes and not really feeling like looking for them, but then when he started playing again in his first game it was I believe, he scrambled and lead with his head to get a first down. Things of that nature. I believe he even admitted after the game that was the wrong thing to do and said something along the lines of things change for him when he gets into the game.

That's not what he said after the game.  He said that he needed to prove to himself that he could still play, which isn't the same thing.

I was also concerned about his mentality after the PIT game, but as we saw in the games after that, it wasn't an issue.  Now, I suppose you could make the argument that Tua should NEVER try to make a first down if it means diving instead of sliding, but I don't know if that is a realistic expectation for an NFL QB.

You're right that's not what I said, it's worse. Before the game says he needs to be smart. During the game and after he's trying to prove how tough he is.

Again, that's not the same thing.

There's a difference between "I wanted to show everyone that I'm a tough guy" and "After coming back from this major injury, I needed to prove to myself that I can still play normally."  And it's not like he kept trying to run people over after that game.

Believe me, I was concerned about whether Tua could mentally recover after the PIT game:

SOTG goes to Tua.  His decision making was just terrible.  He should have had 3 picks, but even more worryingly, he's trying to bulldoze people to prove some sort of point.  This is the one time that I've been really concerned about his viability as a franchise QB.  He might be mind-fucked.

Tua needs a LOT of work from the coaching staff in the next week, and very little of it has to do with football.  If he doesn't understand how important he is to the success of this team, and does not make decisions accordingly, then he is of little value to the organization.

But we had several games after that in which Tua showed that he understands he needs to protect himself.  This doesn't mean throwing the ball away any time a defender gets near you - you can't be successful playing like that - but it does mean protecting yourself instead of trying to run guys over.  And it seems like Tua showed after the PIT game that he learned that lesson.
