Rodgers is still a great QB, I just kind of question his willingness to work hard anymore.  The last couple years he just seems lackadaisical at the start of seasons.  The Packers have been benefitting from bad Bears teams, and until this year bad Lions teams.  Maybe a new team would reinvigorate him, then again maybe it would just be a paycheck to him.

He has that Jay Cutler non-chalant attitude, but he won back to back MVP awards. He puts in the work, it just seems like he may not because of how he carries himself. Going to the Jets and winning a Superbowl would not only shove it in the faces of Green Bay ownership, but shows that he did what Brett Favre couldn't. I think he would be highly motivated.

Which again, would suck for us.

I feel a little bit like I'm taking crazy pills.  The 7-10 Jets are close?

I mean...they're bad.

You aren't taking crazy pills...you're just missing the obvious answer.

The Jets were 7-10 precisely because they had one of the worst QBs in the league. Trade that god-awful QB for a very-very good Aaron Rodgers, then give all that young ridiculous talent another year of seasoning, and they aren't anywhere near a 7-10 team.

With Aaron Rodgers running 50 million per year, can the Jets afford that?

His cap shit is half that for the next 2 years, so it's very doable. They have a lot of cap room. They could become instant contenders in one offseason with Rodgers and their cap room.

If you want to take the Cowboys and think you can win with Rodgers over Prescott or something, fine.  But the Jets?  How many wins difference are we attributing to one player here?

I wouldn't say they were "close", but I think they greatly improved this past year.  They were two games away from the playoffs this year, and if they had a quality QB they just might have been in the playoffs. That "bad" team beat Miami 40-17, and barely lost 11-6 in the second game.

Is cap shit a typo or a real term?

Jets just landed Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator and rumors are they hope to lure Rodgers with him.

Jets have the 13th overall pick. That's not too high where they wouldn't consider trading it away for Rodgers. Honestly, if he is traded, I think the Jets are the clear front runners. They would be built to win now, so expect lots of action in free agency. The salary cap is just numbers on paper if you know how to manipulate it, so don't be shocked if they add other high priced talent.

Or they could use the 13 pick to draft a long term solution at QB.

Best case there would be a project like Anthony Richardson. I liked him but felt he should have stayed another year at Florida. In the words of Joe Rose "he has some good games but on some days he looked like he didn't even know what a receiver was". hahaha

There's really no one available that has "high potential", although being an understudy for Rodgers for 2 years is good learning experience. Then again, Zach Wilson is only entering his 3rd season, so trading for Aaron still seems like the best bet. Diffrent story if they had a Top 3 pick.

The one positive I think I can say for the Jets acquiring Rodgers  is that they're not likely missing out on a potential long-term choice.

They're a middle of the road team, but not the outright kind of trash that you'd expect to pull in an elite, young QB.  So, it does probably kick the can down the road a little bit, but Jets don't have "rock bottom" in sight.  They whiffed on Zack Wilson, so there's a price to pay for that pick, regardless.

Just like the price we are paying for Terron Armstead. We whiffed on several picks so we have to pay big money for a guy who is going to miss 4-5 games on average.
