Looks like we got who most people wanted us to get. For all who are familiar with Fangio, what does this transform our defense into as far as schemes and formations?

Quote from: Tom Pelissero
The #Dolphins have agreed to terms with Vic Fangio on a deal that makes him the NFL’s highest-paid coordinator, per sources.

It’s a 3-year deal with a 4th-year team option. Fangio, the former #Broncos coach, is one of football’s best defensive minds. Huge get for Mike McDaniel. pic.twitter.com/ynCK2BB2xC

Great hire. Stay reasonably healthy and this is now a Top 10 defense with a Top 5 ceiling.

Odd timing for an announcement, isn't he in SF at the moment?

I don't think it's the same guy.

This is the former Broncos head coach.  I looked on Wikipedia and he was a consultant for the Eagles in 2022, but not in an official capacity.

Think you are correct

Someone peosted a pic of him at Cracker Barrel in Davie yesterday morning so he was in town. The wierd thing to me as of like 4:00 pm yesterday PFT was saying he hasn't fianlized the deal and was still open for other teams. I haven't seen anything contradicting that since then so I won't be happy until the press conference.

NFL Network is saying it, so I would believe them over anyone else. Plus, no contradictory reports have come out. Looks to be a sure thing.

Still reports that Fangio is awaiting to see what happens in San Fran and has not signed with the Dolphins. Hoch and Crowder are talking about Michael Silver's Tweet today that Fangio told him late last night "Nothing has been decided on my end" as far signing with the Dolphins.

This is a pretty major story, you would expect to see more people come out and say it's not a done deal yet if it weren't. Then again, these beat writers are saying directly that they spoke with Fangino and it's not a done deal. Not sources or rumors, but a direct quote from the man himself.

It would be a big blow for us if we weren't able to close this deal but I think out of respect for the Niners he will listen to their pitch now that they're out of the playoffs.

NFL the TV Show. NFL the soap opera.

I hope Miami lands the guy because he can help MCD and build a good defense and if you need a coach to step in if McD doesn’t cut it in a few years, you got a guy.

Idk what is going on. Some people thought he was in SF and now he is interviewing for them so who knows.

NFL.com reported him to Miami so I think that’s correct as of now.

It's good to see Ross has finally got out the cheque book to find an experienced, highly rated assistant for this team...

Will it work as well as everyone thinks? I hope so, I really do - and on first look he should be a good fit (as long as the players adjust to his schemes). But sometimes what seems to be in ideal scenario just doesn't work in real life.

Next year is the 30th anniversary of the season that Buddy Ryan was appointed as Defensive Coach of the Houston Oilers, and I don't want that history repeating here.

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6tao61

Now I am not pessimistically saying this is going to happen, but this place is called "The Dolphins Make Me Cry" for a reason - and Ross has a long history of paying out for some pretty bad coaching/administration hires. Fingers crossed this is a good appointment (and considering Fangio's character and history, it should be).

Tick-tock, Tick-tock, Tick-tock, Tick-tock. It would be such a Dolphins thing to make an announcement too early and then not get their guy.
