Tick-tock, Tick-tock, Tick-tock, Tick-tock. It would be such a Dolphins thing to make an announcement too early and then not get their guy.

The team didn't make an announcement, NFL Network did and then some Dolphins beat writers confirmed it but that appears to not be the case. To me, seems like the usual media tactic of someone reputable saying something and everyone else lying and saying that "they heard the same thing" to pile on.

Right now, I think it's 50-50. Current Niners DC looks to be the next Texans HC leaving a vacancy. Vic seems to have waited for that, question is did he wait out of respect or because he really wants that job and is using the Miami offer to get paid more? Both jobs are attractive so it's a tossup at this point.

I just hope we don't miss out on his protege in Seattle if he does decide to go to San Fran.

Weak. And not how I wanted to start the off-season. I doubt we get him at all.

That's my biggest concern. I hate to think by waiting for #1 we miss out on whoever is our #2 or even worse.

FWIW, Barry Jackson said on Twitter that over the weekend Vic Fangio told Miami that he will take the job. So, I can only assume the reason he hasn't yet is because the Niners called him and said they would have an opening soon. His girlfriend is an eye surgeon in San Fran, so he has ties to that area. Of course, Ross would build an eye center just for her to run if need be, so this sounds more emotional than anything.

After hearing this, I'm down to 25% he takes the job. Never a good thing when you give someone your word and then back out, very rarely do you come back to it. Plus, just a scummy thing to do, especially to a guy like McDaniel who he also has some ties to.

Glimmer of hope. The Niners requested an interview with former Panthers interim HC Steve Wilks for their DC position. Technically, that position isn't open yet but I guess this means their current guy is going to be the Texans HC.

I don't know if this is genuine interest in the guy or just a Rooney Rule thing they have to do. I'm hoping it's genuine as that could mean Vic told them no but we should know by the end of this week.

Fangio isn't a minority so it's most likely just a bogus mirage.

I thought so too but now the Niners have just requested to interview Titans DB Coach Chris Harris, who is also black. So, at the very least they must have legit interest in one of them aside from Fangio. Of course, it seems like Fangio will still interview but why not take a great gig in Miami if you don't have the job already in San Fran? Seems almost insulting to have a guy of his caliber even interview.

At this point we are his bitch. Not sure that's the way you want to start a relationship with an assistant coach but we are talking about the Dolphins.

Fangio is now negotiating with Denver after they signed Payton.

Just pull the offer then. He said he wanted the job and would be the highest paid coordinator in the game. Then, he took back his word and wanted to wait on what the Niners did and now he wants to go back to the team that fired him as Head Coach just to be a coordinator? That's the type of person who watches men have sex with his wife. Get him away from us and hire the guy from Seattle.

Ugh.  I hate that this is happening, but you just can't do business like this.

If you accept an offer, you should take the offer (in general).  There are special circumstances, sure, and you gotta do what's best for you, though.  However, once you back out of an offer, I don't think it's good for either party to continue to negotiate to get you to keep the offer.

Exactly. This is a grown man who has been around the league for decades. You give a team your word, that should be as good as gold. If he is having second thoughts about the Miami job, he should tell us he will not be taking it. You can't say you are having second thoughts and then go interview with other teams, especially much lesser jobs like the Denver one.

This is all very likely personal because his girlfriend live sin San Francisco and doesn't want to leave, which is totally understandable but don't give a team your word without 100% certainty.
