don't give a team your word without 100% certainty.

Do we know that he did?

Do we know that he did?

Several people reported that he accepted the offer, so either 1 guy said it and the others jumped on it or Miami is the one who leaked it to different reporters. Few Miami beat writers said so as well so I tend to believe it to be true.

Joe Rose is funny about not sharing inside info but he did say he spoke with several people and the Dolphins came out of the meeting thinking it was a done deal. He doesn't know if the agent and Fangio were not quite on the same page but the Dolphins didn't know he was waiting to decide.

Like I said before ... time to move on before you lose out on the next guy too.

Pro Football Network reports that multiple sources have said Fangio becomes Dolphins DC sooner rather than later. Adam Beasley retweeted this, he is a beat writer for Miami.

Seems like every reporter is syaing he will sign with Miami and all logical sense says he will sign elsewhere. Sean Payton very likely told him to not sign because the Broncos deal was about to be completed.

Ugh.  I hate that this is happening, but you just can't do business like this.

If you accept an offer, you should take the offer (in general).  There are special circumstances, sure, and you gotta do what's best for you, though.  However, once you back out of an offer, I don't think it's good for either party to continue to negotiate to get you to keep the offer.

That is assuming he actually accepted an offer.  Fangio never said he accepted an offer nor has the Dolphins.  I am chalking this up to the reporter wanting to be first and not confirming a rumor.

Joe Rose said the Dolphins felt it was a done deal so I don't disagree that official Dolphin reps confirmed the report.  Apparently Fangio and his agent were not on the same page or he had a change of heart. Either way ... the Dolphins thought it was a done deal.

Yeah, I think the breakdown is between Fangio and his agent. It's a simple thing, do you want the job or not? If Miami negotiated with the agent and he then accepted the job for Fangio based off of acceptable parameters, then it's Fangio who changed his mind.

I hope the truth comes out within a week or so, I'm tired of speculating. Rumors that he may not be wanted back in Denver by some of the players makes me think we really should walk away now. We have a small window to compete, we can't afford to miss badly on DC.

All of this "Fangio is embarrassing the Dolphins" talk is pretty silly.  This isn't like the Colts and Josh McDaniel, where the team issued an official release announcing the hire.  All you have so far is a bunch of reporters with competing "scoops" claiming this and that.

The Dolphins front office should stay the course.  None of this media gossip has changed anything.

If we get him then fine. If we get dumped and then lose out to the next guy then we will be a joke once again. We are playing his game and if we lose people are going to make fun of us. It doesn't have to bother you or I but it will happen.

If the Dolphins don't get Fangio then they shouldn't be giving reporters "scoops" before deals are signed.  That's on them.

I think the issue is that Fangio or his agent said they would take the job and now they aren't. However, you are correct in that even if Fangio is in the wrong, no need to tell reporters he took the gig before it is signed. I think they do that to curry favor with the beat writers so when they have some drama like with Flores or the Brady debacle, they go easy on them. Just a hunch though, I can see no other benefit to telling Barry Jackson about potential deals.

Someone peosted a pic of him at Cracker Barrel in Davie yesterday morning so he was in town. The wierd thing to me as of like 4:00 pm yesterday PFT was saying he hasn't fianlized the deal and was still open for other teams. I haven't seen anything contradicting that since then so I won't be happy until the press conference.
I posted this three days ago so it's been four days since the Dolphins let it slip. Crazy nothing has been said either way since this. I really don't know why the Dolphins are waiting unless they know something. Maybe Miami Mike has good intell that San Fran doesn't want him and most people don't see him taking the Broncos. LOL ... I don't remember who said it but now every time I think about him going back to the Broncos as a "cuck" position.

That was me, it is a cuck position, he was their coach 2 years ago. It's a humiliating downgrade, the players won't respect him.

Pretty sure it's San Fran or us, don't know what the hold up is about. He knows Miami's stance and offer and by now he surely has to know San Fran's offer. The guy from Seattle is in limbo too as he won't be hired until Fangio makes up his mind, he will probably take whichever job is left.

Yeah, that's an odd position to be in wrt Denver. Not sure if that would work. I think maybe the HC being Sean Payton and not some nobody could make it work. I think it also helps that the Broncos have a new GM.

Reports are that Payton and the Broncos haven't finalized terms yet, so it's certainly possible that Fangio has already agreed with Payton and is just waiting for everything to fall into place there.

Very possible he told Payton he will go with him if he comes back, but that's a terrible landing spot for him compared to Miami and San Fran. Miami is highest paid with tons of talent. San Fran is familiarity with tons of talent. Denver is a demotion on a team all but guaranteed to miss the playoffs the next 3-4 years.

Sadly, this is our offseason so stories like this are all we have to talk about. Free agency next and then somewhat the draft wince we don't have many picks.
